It's about one of Kurt Cobain's girlfriends, she was threatening to leave him if he didn't reamin "clean." The true meaning of clean is assumed to be stay out of police trouble, but with Cobain's look on life, this can't be entirely confirmed.

Hey, check your CDs. This ain't a Nirvana song. They Performed it, but (I don't have the disc in front of me) I believe it is a song by another grunge band called The Wipers.

So, Kurt didn't mean anything when he wrote this song because.... well, he didn't write it.

"Molly's Lips" was written by Eugene Kelly and Francis McKee of the Vaselines. They also wrote "Son of a Gun". Nirvana also covers the Greg Sage and the Wipers song "D7". All three of these songs appeared on the Hormoaning EP. I have no idea what any of these cover songs are about.

I just listened to the song on 'The Vaselines - All the Stuff and More'
The song IS by Eugene Kelly and Frances Kelly and is about scottish TV personality Molly Weir. Known to many in the UK as 'Hazel McWitch' from the bizzare 80's comedy 'Rentaghost'

This song is not by the Wipers or Nirvana and was not written by Kurt Cobain. It was written by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee and was a song for their band THE VASELINES. It's about a t.v. personality in Scotland.

On the Incesticide album Kurt did a lot of cover songs and molly's lips was one of them. Now besides that what does the song mean?

Francis Bean Cobain was named after Francis Farmer who was an actress, not after a guy in a band. Courtney even wore her dress.(to their wedding I think.)

'Incesticide' was a compilation released by Geffen to fill the gap between 'Nevermind' and 'In Utero.' It featured Nirvana B-sides, rarities and unreleased tracks. Molly's Lip's, a Vaselines cover, was recorded @ a John Peel (BBC) session and first appeared on the 'Hormoaning, 1992 Australian Tour ep.' A Subpop split single came out a year earlier, in 1991, featuring Nirvana doing a live cover of Molly's Lips.
