This song is definitely written from the grooms point of veiw...at the start he is pacing because he is nervous. Then he hears voices etc. and he says "Havent you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?!"

then later he says oh well ill look at this wayi mean technically our marriage is saved...saved as in that he is saved because it would suck being married to her

if anyone knows if there is a meaning to all the people have having face paint or masks on...tell me
XoX Luv you brendon lol

Well I really just think the song is about a groom and a bride.

When all the circus people follow the singer in, the bride thinks its the groom's family, and she's yelling at him for it.

He knows its not really his family, because it's not.

The people came to warn him that she's cheating on him, before making the mistake of marrying her.

That's what I think it means.

The video clears a lot of things up.

The most sense that I could take from the song is it being written from the grooms perspective. I think he is pacing because of just the wedding jitters. I don't think that's the big deal. I think the problem is that the people in the weddings are such gossip hounds that the freakin waiter found out about a skeleton in the closet. Some random person was let in on a secret, something the bride and groom are getting over. I think the bride is sticking up for his bride in the sense that he is criticising the gossipers saying, "well I'll look at it this way, I mean technically our marriage is saved/Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne". Keep your mouths such on business that isn't yours to talk about. It's not helping the magical day so shut it! I know I'd be pretty pissed if someone brought out all this stuff on what's supposed to be the happiest day of your life, right?

This song is about the bride cheating on the groom and it all gets figured out anyway, and so the groom leaves the bride.

I think he suspects his wife is cheating on him and he is pacing trying to contemplate if he should marry her or not. Meanwhile, he overhears a conversation about her cheating and instead of defending her or becoming in raged he simply says "haven't you people ever heard of closing a god damn door".

Then realizes that he was right to think that his wife was cheating and a form of relief/sadness immediately rushes through him and he process to call the wedding off. Also he convinces himself that he did the right thing by saying "Technically our marriage is saved". The song name, when broken down, also points out somewhat of the songs meaning, I write sins not tragedies states that the artist of the song is saying that this song is not about just sad emotional tragedies, but the heartless sins of menkind and how to deal with them.

My friend and I like to really think about all of the P!ATD songs and I came up with this one... I think that it is saying that since she was a whore, it was not a tradegedy, but a sin (hence the name "I Write Sins Not Tragedies) and don't feel sorry for her because she brought it upon herself

Its Not From Either The Groom's, Waiter's, Or Brides POV.
Because The Groom wouldn't Be Calling His Bride A Whore, Nor Would The Bride Herself.

Since As Some Of Ryans Songs Started Out As A Story, I Think It'sJust From A Bystander's POV.

The Guest Is Pacing The Pews When He Over Hears The Brides Maid To The Waiter "What A Beutiful Wedding" Then He Thinks To Himself 'Yes, But What A Same THe Grooms Bride Is A Whore.'
-Indicating He Has Seen Or Heard Of Her Cheating.

At Some Point Before The Wedding, The Guest Leads The Groom To The Room Where The Bride Is Cheating, And Exclaims "Haven't You People Ever Heard Of Closing The God Damn Door?"

To Which The The Groom Says Sacasticly: "Oh Well Infact I, Mean Look At It This Way, Technicly Our Marrige Is Saved."

Well at the making of they say it´s just a wedding going on and there´s a big difference between the groom´s family and the bride´s family and the cicus people interrupting are trying to make the groom see the bride´s not good for him. Then the chaos starts... as they are talking about what the main concept of the VIDEO is like, i´m not sure this is much about the songs meaning. Sure, when brendon says it´s like the groom´s conscience it does, but I still wonder what that´s got to do with ryan, who wrote this song. what made him write a song about that theme? is it a mere statement about senseless marriages or was it him or someone of his acquaintance who was betrayed like that (same question with lying is th most..., though this has got such a heart-rending melancholy it must be written with true feelings, not?)help! I want to know what it is about...!:)

I believe the the groom is from the circus, and the ringleader is trying to tell him how his to be wife is cheating on him, so he sits this whole thing up.

I think the guy is pissed about tripping on an open door.
And Where it talks about pacing I think it means when you try and walk the pain off. Or so the little people told me.

I think that the song is about a man who finds out that his soon to be wife is cheating on him with one of the men at his wedding

I believe it is the groom's thoughts as he is getting married. I think this because of the video. It's about cheating and unfaithfulness toward the person you love.

I think that it's about some guy who is not exactly the best character in the book. He may be in the outside and he uses this to his advantage by doing bad/evil things to people he hates and no one ever thinks it was him because no one really knows him. Then he comes out of his cage and tells his enemies off and tells them about what he's done. So then he realizes that these people do the same things, but use their fame to cover their crimes.

I SOMEWHAT agree with this interpretation. I think much more can be derived from the video as to who the "singer" is.

In the video, a man comes and crashes the wedding. The couple freaks out; it seems as though it's tearing the groom up inside. The bride leaves, and a man in the back row follows her. The man who crashed the wedding, grabs the groom by the collar and forces him to follow his fiancee and the man who followed her. When they get to the outside of the chapel, he seems them kissing, and he looks crushed. The groom and the wedding crasher take a bow, and it turns out that the groom and the wedding crasher were the same person. The man who stopped the wedding was actually the grooms conscience, telling him that his bride was nothing more than a "whore".

The bridesmaid and the waiter are just metaphors.

This song is simply about: A woman soon to be married is cheating on her husband (soon to be) and gossip that reaches the husband during the wedding. Saving their marriage which was not official.

I think this is about the singer being an onlooker in, well almost a dream situation(not cause of the video).

The singer is really the grooms and brides for that matter voice of reasoning, as they both do not want to go ahead, however the groom is to 'chicken'.

The song makes references to what could be seen as the real and the 'now'(whats seen in video), for instance "No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poison rationality" 'poison rationality' as being what they were headed for; twisted logic, and skewed logic.

And obviously the twisted logic is their marriage

I think something else...I believe that the waiter represents the leader of the grooms life, and also the groom's conscience. When he says that she's a whore, it shows the groom's fear of his wife's possible betrayel. She doesn't want to go with the marriage because she knows that he knows, so she runs out of the area. Then when the groom finally breaks up with the future wife, he becomes the waiter, or in other words, the ringleader of his life.

It's obviously about a wedding, without question. But I'm going to take it from the video clip's point of view. Take the singer to be the best man who is in love with the bride. They might have had an affair behind the groom's back. He was probably so infatuated with the bride-to-be that he was sure that they would be together but by the sounds of it, it seems as if the wedding is going to go on as planned.
"Better to face these things with a sense of poise and rationality" suggests that the bride wants the security that the groom offers her and forget about the affair.
"Technically the marriage is saved" shows the frustration on the singer's part.

It is obviously set under the groom. Like he's pacing one of the bride's maids call his wife a whore and he is pissed! Plus at the end of the video he walks in on her and a mime or whatever making out, she has make-up all over her face! I Love This Song!
