The whole cd was written in two parts. The first half is all futuristic with synthesisers and stuff. The second half is all nostalgic with vaudvillian piano. The intermission, if you listen to what going on, they're playing tecnho music first and then we hear a radio sound and he says "due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to continue our broadcast of dance music. We continue now with our piano interlude". This brings us to a vaudevillian piano song. This acts as a change thingy for the whole cd.

I think this whole album is kind of like a story. That's why they have an intermission

I think that the intermission is there for one main reason. In the album it changes the type of music.

My god people. Y'all are so over thinking this whole thing. It's called an intermission, so it seperates parts. And if you listen to what he says, then you know why it's there.

There is an intermission because according to fueled by ramen records Panic! At the Disco decided to have half the CD's songs technoish and the other half a little more old fashioned so as to seem different and so all the songs happen to not be the same and "intermission" is the seperation between the two clashing styles of music.

The cd is like one play. The intermission plays along with that thought, it also changes the type of music being played.

The song is an intermission, that's all... It serves it's purpose to separate parts to the album. I've also read in their shows, they have an intermission so that they can change costumes...

haha there are 11 interpretations here of an intermission.
and they're all the same! haha I think we get the message!
theres only so many ways you can say that an intermission is a break to separate the styles of music.

personally, I wouldn't waste anymore time interpreting something that has quite obviously already been interpreted...constantly.

its just a thought =]

It's obvious... The whole "introduction" and "intermission" thing is just a way to tie up the whole idea of the songs being connected

I think this song also talks about the singer's dad being an alcoholic and how he had to deal with the pain using pills, which in this song are not referred to as pills but as "broadcast". My basic instinct tells me that Orson Welles' sledge was named "intermission".

All of the songs tell a different story and P!atd didn't write enough songs in time. It's common sense. Thats why they have one at the beginning of the CD and one in the middle.

The intermission on this album is dividing it into two halves. Thee band didn't want to write an album consisting entirely of the same songs, so they split it into 2 parts. The first is an electronic new age, synthesized, digitally enhanced version whereas the second half has old school piano, organs, banjo and other misc. Instruments which rarely occur in records nowadays. Panic! did this well.

For those of you wondering why people are pondering the meaning of "intermission":

Intermissions are usually used for old movies where you could get up and go to the bathroom or whatever but this is a cd so why do they need it? and that is what people are trying to figure out.

This 'song' is just an INTERMISSION! PATD put this in to ease the transfer from their more techno half of the record, to the more traditional and pianoesque type of music. The guy says "ladies and gentleman, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to continue our broadcast of dance music. we shall continue with our piano interlude". I think that pretty much explains it, they are turning of the dance music and putting on some prettier music. :)

Intermission means a break in the music where you go to the lobby and get snacks like hot dogs and a cola.

Most of you are right the changing thing but I realized that people compare them to circuses and circus`s have intermissions to

If you listen to what he is saying in the middle, it is a direct quote from the early radio show, "War of the Worlds". He is merely transitioning from one part to another, one that is more dramatic, hence the "Intermission".
