It's saying they are either gonna make it in the music industry or they are not. and while they are trying to be succussful and hip, they have no interest in what critics say... right?

The song is about Panic! At The Disco themselves. It's about them saying that they'd keep doing what they're doing everyone disapproves of them (The weather today is slightly sarcastic with a good chance of A. Indifference and B. Disinterest in what the critics say)or they become a big hit (Make us it,hip, and scene)

Ryan Ross said that this was his preemptive response to the criticism he predicted that the band would receive once they released their album. "Just for the record, the weather today is..." was taken from Chuck Palahniuk's book "Diary". Only the first part that I just wrote is a direct quote, the rest of it Ryan Ross made up himself to fit the song.

Criticism, and again, mass media as a topic. Basically, they are stating they don't give a shit about what the critics say (oh, the tough kids).

It's about Panic! at the Disco gaining popularity through MySpace (wet dream for the webzine). And how you can approve of them or ignore them (Shrug us of your shoulders don't approve a single word that we wrote). How they don't care what the critics think (The weather today is...) Something to do with smoking (Blacking my lungs fire on my tongues) and bands who are never going to make it and their songs are clever but don't mean anything
