This song is a strait-forward love song. Ryan Ross is the troubled moon who looked "like he was barely hanging on", as he struggled with his father's alcoholism and depression throughout adolescence. Then he met his current girlfriend Keltie, the sun, for she was happy and positive. And then the moon fell in love with the sun, and the song basically shows how love changes your life. All was golden in the sky, or all was beautiful and happy. Great song, btw :D

i think it's about two people who fall in love but are very diffrent from each other like the phrase "like night and day"--meaning the sun and the moon. "when the moon fell in love with the sun"

I believe in the irony of the song. In the song it was described that the Sun was the one barely hanging on (unless it's a misplaced modifier), and the Moon was the one that saved the Sun's life. it's ironic in the sense that the Sun, usually portrayed as someone cheerful, is the one who was down in this situation. It also shows that even though a person looks and acts happy (the Sun), deep down, that person may actually be suffering.

This song is the love song that Ryan wrote for his previous girlfriend, Keltie Colleen. In it, he was the sun and she was the moon, which can be gathered from the lyrics. The lines 'when the moon found the sun, he looked like he was barely hanging on, but her eyes saved his life in the middle of summer', Ryan and Keltie met when she danced for them on stage at the VMA's, which is also the year they won the VMA for video of the year for sins. If this was in 2006, the performance was not long after Ryan's father passed away, but I could be wrong. The lines 'well he was just hanging around, then he fell in love, and he didn't know how, but he couldn't get out, just hanging around then he fell in love in the middle of summer' was his realization that he met someone pretty awesome in his life, but it was a sudden turn of events that he didn't see coming. Overall, this song is beautiful.
