This song, as stated by Hayley herself, is about not feeling the same way about someone who loves you and not letting them know until it's too late and they're already hurt.

I pretty much live this song. I think the line that say: "An' I'm forced into you / Just cause you're into me" really clears up any confusion there might be.

It's about, like the song blatently says, USING someone. And yeah, usually people who are using others don't yell and scream and write a song about it, but it's a frustrating thing.

For example: You love someone else, and for whatever reason, you can't have that person. So you're forced to try to find someone else and you just can't find anyone else you feel that strongly about. But the other person you find is way more into you than you are them, so you play along (maybe hoping you'll learn to like the more, or maybe you just want someone around who cares for you like that), not wanting to hurt them, and you end up using them anyway.

I suck at explaining things, but I hope this made a little sense...

Yep this song is about the writer using someone but i think its so they're distracted from who they really want. Even the name, Decoy. a decoy distracts you from something. So ye shes using someone who likes her because she cant have who she wants. x

This song is about someone who gave up on love 'cause someone hurt them so bad. ("Try to forget love, 'cause love's forgotten me.") And then this person gets into a relationship with someone who really cares about him/her, but he/she doesn't care about the other person. ("And I'm forced into you because you're into me." "You've never been so used as I'm using you.") The person being used should have realized all along how little this meant to the user. ("I was gone from the very first day." "Don't look so blue. You should've seen right through.") The user doesn't even feel bad about using the other person, she/he feels like "so what? other people do it. why can't i?" more so because he/she was used recently and it hurt them so bad that he/she stopped caring about anyone else's feelings.

This song is a lot deeper than unrequited love.

In Kerrang magasine Hayley said, 'There's this song called 'Decoy' that shows the bad side of me in which I really hurt this dude and I don't feel sorry about it at all. It's about how you get into a relationship with someone and maybe you know your heart's not in it but you see them pouring out every bit of themselves, working really hard to try and make it happen. You let them waste their feelings on you without really telling them until it's too late.'
