What this song is trying to get across through your head is things aren't always what they seem.The guy thought one thing about his girl and she thought another.When he found this out he filled himself up with resentment.

It's a song about a guy who got his heart broken and stills has feeling for her so he says hate is a strong word but I really really really don't like you.
