The first part about the song is about her immigration to california, and the irony of the fact that she is crossing over the bones and bodies of her ancestors who ca previously belonged to (as well as the native-americans who it previously, previously belonged to). The sond part of the song has specific references to clothing factories ("and now she got a quota - tha needle and thread crucifixion - sold and shipped across tha new line of mason dixon") goes with the theme of the album batte of l.A. For mexico to reclaim the land lost in the mexican-american war of 1846.
