Rosenrot is about how women have ways of getting what they want. The first verse roughly translates to a girl asking her boyfriend to get something for her from a high cliff, and that she gets what she wants.

this song seems to be about how women know how to be manipulative and bend the world around their fingers. Also, if you see the musik video, it appears that the girl is just using her boyfriend for personal gain as she "turns him in" to the other villagers for.... pedophillia or something. i'm not 100% sure, so please correct me if you feel i was not accurate.

I read that in the video the girl ask the monk to kill her parents. So as in the song the Jung dies attempting to retrieve the Roeslein from a mountain, in the video the monk is executed for committing suicide, for his lover. So traurig..
