The meaning is in the title...Love! Love is like a rollercoaster. It has its up and downs, and gives you butterflies at times (funny feeling in my tummy). It was a fun song for the Chili Peppers to do and it's just about the numerous estranged lovers of the band throughout the years. In their earlier years, they wrote songs to women so it could also be used to win over a girl even though there isn't a name directly referenced to in the lyrics.
