Verse: "Our buildings have fallen, our walls all caved in, and we can't comprehend this sad state that we're in so we sift through the ashes of what we've become and surrender here one by one, so push us down" Interpretation: Everything is falling around us, everything's gone to hell in other words, and we don't even see it. We can't tell that our foundations have broken and everything has crashed around us. By foundations, I speak of things like moral values and, of course, what the Founders intended for the country. And so we give in to the changes, we allow ourselves to be sucked into the chaos and we allow others to oppress us. Verse: "let the blind lead the blind, cause it's eye for an eye in your so called life, are you out there? are you listening? is there something we're still missing?" Interpretation: They're basically stating the stupidity of war. When we fight, and we go by the "eye for an eye" mentality of things, everyone comes out of it blind, there's no real benefit to it. Then they pose the question of "Are you listening, is there something we're missing?" meaning that they're trying to get the listeners to understand that this isn't right, that we're missing something that's ruining us. Verse: "let the blind lead the blind, cause it's eye for an eye, we all fall down" Interpretation: A repetition of the last verse, except with a new message at the end. We all fall down, in other words we crash, no good comes of it. The phrase "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" would be a good one to apply to this message. Verse: "we're spinning out of control we're trying to find somewhere to land and I don't want you to know the things that keep me down" Again, everything's gone to hell, we've surrendered to the chaos as stated above. Now we're trying to find a way to safely get back to our roots, to not fall, or crash-land, as implied in the verse before this one. And the last two lines of this are probably said to potential oppressors, that they won't tell them how to oppress so that we can find this safe landing and rise up to fix things. Chorus: "cause we get right back up again, the things you're telling me aren't making any sense, right back up again, I'm sick of wishing for someone else to come" Interpretation: This is repeated three times throughout the song, so I'm guessing it's a chorus; it has a fairly significant message. Despite the fact that we continue to fall, to crash-land, we always get back up again and keep going. It says that the things "you're telling me aren't making any sense", so I'm assuming this is speaking to the oppressors again, saying that we're starting to see through all the bullshit. Then it repeats that we're getting up again, and we grow tired of waiting on an outsider to save us, we want our country, our people, and our government to save us from what we've become, from what we've done to the world, and the human race. This song, while metaphorical in nature as I said, has a very clear message. We've destroyed everything we should stand for, and we need to stop surrendering to that and "Raise Against" it. I like the song, it speaks something that I've thought for a long time. This place has gone to the dogs, why can't we see that? Do something to help, as small as it may seem. Reach out a helping hand for fellow man, and stop fighting, because an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. Keep on spreading the word, Raise Against.
