Rise Against: Ready to Fall Meaning

Song Released: 2006

Ready to Fall Lyrics

Hold on slow down again from the top now and tell me everything
I know I've been gone for what seems like forever
But I'm here now waitin
To convince you that I'm not a ghost or a stranger
But closer than you think
She said just go on to...

The song is about how the human race is destroying all that nature has created I my not be correct on this one but, the girl is (i'm guessing) "mother nature". "just go on to what you pretend is your life" - she is telling the person to live what they believe real life is, but is in fact falling apart. "she" says " but please don't die on me " meaning be careful of your actions towards nature. (and I'm only guessing but): us as humans have the power to end what we caused. If our race dies because of our destructive actions, nothing can restore our planet.

I count the times that I've been sorry, (I know, I know)
now my compation slowly drowns, (I know, I know)
if there's a time these walls could guard you, (I know, I know)
then let that time be right now

line one: the person know that what they do is wrong
line two: but have little remorce ( porbably because they feel there are more imoprtant things like money)
lines three and four: pretty straight forward, if there is anything anyone can do to save/help you. Let that time be now - as if praying

there you go, you stupid idiotic morons who can't figure out shit for themselves. :)

now do you get it you assholes?

i think it means when you get to the verry top and don't have anywhere to go but down you want to stay at your place. but when you do go down you are glad and never want to go there again. since this happens to bands sometimes i thought this might be right but if it isn't to others... oh well it's just the other person's opinion. so i don't care if anyone else disagrees with me. dislike or like if you wish but i don't care.

Oh come on guys, don't be like that. Everyone has got their own interpretations and even if you disagree with them you shouldn't insult them and tolerate them instead. You don't want others to laugh at your interpretation either, do you?

It is about the planet or that is the way that Rise Against interpreted their own song. Anyone can interpret it however they want. You all get pretty aggressive and defensive about what the song is about.. its not even your song.

Hey retards, the song is about the environment, and the song is about girl,
and it's about being at the top and having no place to go but down.

You're all right but the song hasn't only one meaning. If you think you will agree that all of these meanings are possible, look up guys. The song isnt only about one of them.

Here's my idea, and I only say this because I've listened to the entire album as a whole, when I take apart every single song, and turn it into a progression, I find that it could be used for how drugs can ruin your life, and then you find a way to fix it. "just go on to what you pretend is your life now but please dont die on me" I can see an obvious drug reference there: you are so into drugs that you can't even think of living without them, and all you do is screw everyone else over, which is why you are "pretending" it is the hope that you will snap back at some point, and "Prepetual motion the image won't focus, a blur is all that's seen" could very well be how life seems to go by while you are constantly getting high, and not seeing the world around yourself
"I count the times that I've been sorry
    I know, I know
    Now my compassion slowly drowns
    I know, I know
If there's a time these walls could guard you
    I know, I know
Then let that time be right now"
Could be the final realization that the drugs are ruining your life.

    PLEASE NOTE:
I used could be for the simple purpose that it could be, not that it is, music is meant to express ideas, and bring happiness to people however they interpret it.

ok I think it's about the enviroment, but if anyone wants to tell a girl that he loves her, he coul use this song to say it, because there a much lines, thas coul have a double meaning.

RC: "Ready To Fall" is an interesting song. What's it about?

TM: It's about getting to the top and having nowhere to go but down. It's about the price you pay to follow your dreams.

That's the official word on it.

To begin, I deeply resent the last sentance of whoever wrote the top rated interpretation. There are many people out there who can think for themselves. Other than that...

Ready to Fall is about everything. Literally. Rise Against is an extremely sincere band who know the atrocities of the world. They try to signify this in the song. Yes, I've seen the REAL video. For those of you who think you've seen the "real" video, but just looked it up on youtube, go to peta2. thats the real one. The REAL one is worse. much worse. It couldn't even get on T.V. it was so graphic. At the end, McIlrath says, "Every action has a reaction. We have one planet and one chance." You don't even have to see the rest of the video. You should, but you don't have to. That sums it all up for those of who haven't noticed. I'm sure even those of you who really can't think for themselves figure out the rest of those implications.

I agree with the environmental side of this because as many of have said they are very supportive of all things like this. They have such awesome songs and having such deep meanings makes them better....
I have a question tho...... The line "wings won't take me, heights don't phase me" what is the meaning behind it?

    Verse One
Everyone, or a majority of the people for the most part, has everything else on their mind except for nature and animal cruelty. People live what they believe life is although they will have to eventually tack fact that the environment is being destroyed, animals are getting slaughtered and tortured, and that, at this rate, the world will fall apart due to our unrighteous behaviour.

    Chorus
This crisis is becoming worse, but some people have finally began to take action. Without taking action, it would continue to grow until the slaughterers realize what they have done has come to such an extent that the environment cannot be rebuilt.

    Verse Two
Same as verse one pretty much.

    Verse Three
The people damaging the environment and endangering animals know what they are doing is wrong, but they continue to do this for money to make a living, or for greed. These people should overcome this ‘job’ they have; they are being somewhat hypocritical.

Personally I agree w/ the first and best interpretation of this song. I actually had to look up the lyrics of ready to fall, to fully understand[: but who cares. The message that I wanna get across, is you're a heartless, cruel fucker if you can harm a defenseless animal. yeah, well I hope it makes you feel like more of a manly guy if you do, either that or go take it up the ass[: personally you can gth as far as I'm concerned (yes I watched the video) about 4 or 5 times, and I cried every single time.

This song is about human beings thinking that they are rising to the top, when really they are about to fall straight down

The woman is mentioned is in a way Mother Nature, and the song says "Please Don't Die on Me" because the writer wants to save her and keep her

In the video there are many clips and images of animal torture, disposal and slaughter, and it closes with him saying "Every action has a reaction" which also re-enforces the idea of saving the planet and helping keep our world that is disappearing and crashing so fast

I think this song was really meant to state the pollution problem BUT!!
If you take aside what video and the real meaning, it seems like its a song about finally seeing a girl/guy close to you that you haven't seen ever or for a long time, and that person doesn't seem to feel that way about her/him and they are heartbrbut... other than the pollution meaning

The song was originally written for a different purpose. However, rise against and their producer decided to change it up a bit to put it with a new meaning. wow, I remember when people used to enjoy music the right way and you knew that a song could mean anything-it just mattered what it meant to you.

I think that the song was originally written for a girl, the song sounds a lot more like it was made for a girl than to be about conservation... I beleive some record company that ageed to do the video told them that it needed a look change and that they would look better as a band if they tood up for a cause, so they signed to do the video of their hit song about conservation of animals.

Look at the video! its not about a girl stupid kid, it's about what the human race is doing to the world and how its effecting the animals

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I'd say it's definitely about animal rights.I thought about it as the planets on the edge at the moment and one step could take it to the place where its destroyed and it's ready to fall and die if someone doesn't do something.

I also though about it as he's on the edge of what right and whats wrong, and most people don't look down to see what could happen to the planet if they carry on hence "But don't look down take a step". They live in denial of whats at stake if they don't.

Later on it seems like he talks of when he realised that something that was wrong. "I found a shoulder to lean on, And I thought of a reason to live all by itself" Basically I think this is about how people lean on the planet using it as their home and as their resource and think its only there for them to do so, whereas actually it has a reason to be there for itself.

And "I took one last look from the heights that I once loved, And then I ran like hell" He used to stand on the edge and not do anything about it while seeing over what was happened and now he's chosing not to be a bystander and to do something about it.

As for the video the first thing I though when I saw the full version was worst things have happened to animals. I'm glad it shocked some people and that they find that they can't watch it. Basically, in a way anyone who eats meats is supporting this, but it is human instinct to eat meats as well as most other animals, we just happen to be omnivorous.

If any one has seen the music video of this song it cannot be more obvious that it is about the planet and what we are doing to it. The video is all pictures of cruelty to animals and about how our world is being polluted and our environment is being destroyed by humans, and we are ruining our planet. at the end of the official video, the lasts words are "we have one planet, once chance"

I agree with the "Once you get to the top and having no where to go but down. It's about the price you pay to follow your dreams." But I also believe that it has to do with the environment. We've had a dream about being so advanced and such and now we need to walk off our rooftop because we can't get any higher. In short it's about having to get rid of our unfriendly environmental ways by dropping down a step or too.

A: Everyone has a different view of this song and many other songs by this band. Instead of hating each other for the views on their songs maybe some people should take that effort and energy that they use to attack people and do what the band wants. Not through songs but by them clearly supporting ideas and groups like PETA. Take that energy and help them fix the world.

B: Should this be about a girl then they are simply wanting to let others know that everyone is in the same place at one point in time. You may lose someone but many people do. They are simply trying to show understanding.

C: If it is getting to the top and having no where left to go then fine. They are just simply sharing their experiences.

All in all they are just trying to send a message. Enjoy the music, whether the message is about aiding. a cause, getting over a relationship or taking advice about getting to the top.
