I just completed a piece in art class that was inspired by these lyrics. I took it to mean that the existence of war, conflict, and hate is proof that we as a species are willing to die for this world because we love it so much. "We are the ones in competition, but claim this ain't no race." I took this to mean that the U.S. claims to be above our nature to want to make the world better. We say hat we want a compromise, but in reality out action on that desire is just fuel in the fire. Everyone thinks they know whats best for the world, and everyone tries to manifest that in the world they live in. The problem is hat there are over 6 billion people trying to accomplish 6 billion different things at once. The use of "explode like dynamite" and "like bullets tearing through the wind" illustrates how we are blinded by our desire to make the world "perfect". In order to fix the problem we need to stop trying to fix the problem. It is a paradox that cannot be avoided. It has been coded into our nature since we first walked the earth; it has shaped our inhabitance on this planet; and any day it will end our inhabitance on this planet. Existence goes on.

Wow, I couldn't stop laughing when I read the comment from the guy above who "aought" us a lesson. Haha.
Anyway Rise Against has just about the most powerful lyrics and more meaning in their songs than any other band, why would you listen to one of their songs and not care about the meaning? anyway I think it's about how he is realizing how screwed up the world is, and that we need to do something about it or there will be consequences.

Could be about suicide bombers - ie. 'dynamite strapped tight around my waist', 'explode like bullets tearing through the wind' (ie. like 9/11) and 'found a world worth dying for'.

I believe this song is about our world being totally screwed up if you think about it. "I looked for love in an empty world but all I found was hate" obviously when you like around our world there's so much hate i.e terrorism hate crimes murder rape and the list goes on. but basically I see that this song is telling us to make our world one worth dying for because right now its not.

This song is about Animal Cruelty and how about this world is perfect and how we are just fucking it up...how normally we live are lives normally without any worry about this world being taken away but if we look around there are so many problems to handle and it is our fault....

I hope that YUUY202000 was kidding or on some major hallucinogenics or something of that nature.This song is not about animal cruelty.
As for SXcalibur, yes and no. I would not say that the song is about someone who is literally forced to fight, but rather that by living in the world we live in we are all forced to face the battle of life and all the crazy fucked up shit that that entails weather we like it or not. However I stand by my original interpretation saying that the fact that there is war and conflict only shows how valuable our planet is and how much it is "worth dying for".

This sing talks about how "numb" we ave become to the occurences of wra and violence. The Lyrics "We've been battered so hard that, We don't feel anymore" show exactly the way that we have gotten so used to war and violence 'we don't feel it anymore'.
It also has a hidden meaning that all people have a "war" inside of themselves.

As has been stated by others this song is about how we are blinded by our desires to better our world. We love our existence so much that we are willing to fight and die for it. The one thing that I see that hasn't been mentioned before is the writer's wish to disconnect himself/herself from that. "Take me from this. Forsake me. What if we all die young?" We are causing damage to those we love with all the conflict in our world. Our fathers, brothers, sons, mothers, and daughters go to war to protect that which we hold dear. Unfortunately, that which we hold dearest sometimes doesn't return from the war. Happy memorial day and may God watch over those in conflict (every nation and every race).

This song has a very easily stated but strong meaning. Right off the bat you are hit with a great mental picture.

---Our only means of change is violence. Dead people is not a solution to a deeper problem. We claim that our violence and waging of war are all in the pursuit of peace. Peace and violence can not coexist, period.

---The writer's desire to disconnect from the violence in our world is immense. I love these lines. It's a good hard slap in the face to wake up. Peace and violence can not coexist, period.
