Um, well they kinda sang it together and I kno I wouldnt do that if id just broken up w/ the person. I think it's about a very flawer relationship, but they make each other happy. Even though war is everywhere they can look into eachothers eyes and smile genuinly.

I think it expresses the pain of being apart from someone rather than breaking up. Also it speaks of the vulnerability of opening your feelings/intimacy, respect (holding high) and comforting (steal your pain away).

This song was out way before Shaun and Amy were even together and I think it has to do with Shaun talking to his daughter. He says he isn't strong enough, maybe he's refering to having to leave her while he goes on the road or it could have something to do with his ex- wife if it seems more like a break-up song. I would say that it had more to do with one or the other. Judging by the way he sings the song in concert, I would say it was more likely written about the daughter though because he always seems to sing it from his heart.

Okay, now I feel bad because so many people are saying this is a breakup song and this is me and my girlfriend's song, the reason I thought it would be a good song is because we are apart so often, and later in our upcoming relationship we are going to be apart for some time, up to 3 years and I thought the song was about when your apart everything seems so much worse, and that even though the world is trying to separate them, they still love each other but that's my guess,

Personally, I don't believe this is a breakup song as much as it is a I'll-miss-you-when-you're-gone kinda song. It could be either. But I think its a song about missing people you love. Family, friends, and your signifigant other could be included in this song. It has a very broad, and very deep meaning. An amazing song!

I love this song. I talked to Shaun backstage at a concert. Shaun said he wrote this about his emotions towards his ex-girlfriend. It was a way of telling her he wanted her back: "Cause I am broken when I am lonesome and I don't feel right when you're gone away"... but she never took him back.

I love this song ! I talked to Shaun backstage of a concert once and Shaun said he wrote this about his emotions towards his ex-girlfriend. It was a way of telling her he wanted her back: "Cause I am broken when I am lonesome and I don't feel right when you're gone away"... but they never got back together

Yeah I'm sure Seether wrote this song long before Amy Lee and Shaun were going out. I think it has something to do with an ex long before her.

Erm....this song was out practically centuries before Amy and Shaun even THOUGHT about dating. lol Nah, I tink (yes tink) this song is about how...someone has lost something. Maybe their way, their life, their love and now they feel broken and torn because it's gone and they don't know how to get it back. They where so used to feeling 'good' with it around...they don't know how to cope now. It's a beautiful song really.

I think this song is about how someone who has lost their way and doesn't think they can make it on their own. I almost think that Shaun singing is like he's singing about someone else, and he just merely can see the other person is unhappy. maybe the other person just lost something big in their life (like a family member or deep relationship) and since the person he is singing about realizes that they are not ok when they are alone, but put on a front to other people, and that he would do anything to make the other person better. And when the person realizes that they are not right (normal, happy), they admit the worst is over since they were able to face the reality and can now heal. even if they are missing what they lost. but, its definitely not about a breakup with the party in the song, but maybe even a divorce with their parents and its how they're coping with it.

This song has great insight into the aspects of a relationship. Personally, I see a pair of friends that are afraid to take the next step. "I wanted you to know that I love the way you laugh..." The guy is trying to display that there is more there, and he wants to be the one to "hold you high" and "steal your pain away," the one she turns to for comfort, her foundation and strength. He always has her on his mind, and it hurts him when he isn't near her. Then it gives insight into the woman's point of view. She has been struggling through something and wants to turn to him because he "takes my pain away." She feels that there is something between them and "so much left to learn" about their relationship, and "no one left to fight" for trying to stop them. Then the duet is the two finally telling the other about their true feelings and how they want to be so much more... It is so romantic and heartbreaking. Bittersweet at first but then loving.

2 theories: A deployed soldier talking to his girlfriend, listening to her laugh and holding her when he's home. He's been away a long time and even though the longest part is over-all he has of her now is a photograph A couple simultaneously dealing with an addiction, one is gone in rehab and the other is used to having them there to help with the pain but their distance is putting strain on their recovery

if u kno anything about seether you would kno broken was written a good year before shaun morgan actually made the duet with amylee, all things considered i believe its about a time of loneliness without the one you love. just thinking of times you have together is just too beautiful to bare being away from them

its about the pain of being in love with someone you can't have because of issues outside of the two people involved.

I think this song should have been added to twilight soundtrack. But nonetheless, I 'm going to try, from twilight POV. 'Steal your pain away' is pbly edward comforting bella after he moves away. The whole song is about first edward telling how much he misses her and wants her, and then bella saying she can't live without him and is 'broken when i'm lonesome'.

i love this song and i think its about couple who are having problems and are reminding themselves of why they need and love eachother...and to the person who said it should b on the twilight soundtrck: plz dnt ruin a good song by associating it with an overpopularized horrible excuse for a book, or series of books i should say...ty
