It is in fact about his brother. In the making of the video that you can find on youtube.com they say that it is a tribute to the memory of Shaun's brother. "call the clouds and listen closely, I'm lost without you" that sounds as if he is calling to the heavens saying he misses him.

granted... not the lyrics stated above. but i do agree and yes i have seen the makeing the video on youtube...anyway. I do believe the song is about his brother. and ingeneral those who have contemplated suicide when things get tough. you have to options. succumb and end it all before it gets to you more than it has. or fight and mend yourself.

Both correct but the song was wrote because Shaun knew his brother was suicidal and he wanted his brother to know he loved him and he would be lost without him

If you watch the video, you will also see the members of the family falling at the same rate as the boy. This, I think, symbolizes that his decision is affecting his loved one's lives as much as his although he was not aware of it. Also, he mentions 'call you name when i feel so helpless' so whomever he is speaking to is a source of strength for him. He says he is lost without this person.. So thinking of this person makes him try harder but this person is no longer with him. Like the memory of his brother would make him press on.. 'Hate the mind, regrets are better left unspoken' So he hates himself for something, and his regrets torture him. To the point that he cannot see the point of making it thru the day. First he says he will 'end this all before it gets me' which could mean suicide... But then it changes to mend this all before it gets me which could be solving the problem or coming to peace. Hes falling.. but he will rise above this. Which means he is going thru darkness and it doesnt look like he will make it thru, but he will get thru in the end...

Actually, Shaun said he wrote this song AFTER his brother died, because he wanted to make a tribute to Eugene. This song is pretty much about how he felt after his brother committed suicide. I think that he felt guilty when his brother died, because he felt helpless. When it says "Forty-eight ways to say that I'm feeling helpless", I think that means that Eugene tried to tell him he was feeling suicidal, but Shaun didn't really grasp that. I love Seether to death and I feel so bad that his brother felt the need to kill himself.
