I think this song is about how we are ruining our world and how global warming will be the end of us, that's my best interpretation.

i think that he means that even though we know that we cant afford to keep doing this to the earth and ourselves... we cant stop (even though we cant afford the sky is over,Disappointed, going crazy) he could also mean that if we keep doing what we are doing we could possibly start some apocalyptic event... this is what i can pick out of it i mean we all take songs in a different way yours could be the same of different! so ya there you have it!

I have 2 interpretations of the song:

1. Serj constantly repeat that we can't afford the sky which is over us meaning that we've already done so much damage to the earth, global warming for example, and continue to do more and more, that we don't even deserve to see the sky. Sky is always described as pure and virgin. When it's hidden behind dark clouds, doesn't something in your heart trembles? Our own selfishness will be our own doom, sky is a symbol of hope and good fortune, if it's gone, we will lose everything human in ourselves.

2. Serj once or twice mentioned something about a girl <> and this maybe yes, maybe not but <>. Serj sing about the sky as a symbol of affordable hope of better tomorrow. When you are in love and left you feel like you want to get rid of your life, of all your feelings and the beauty of the sky is his anchor of hope.
