NO to the last post...you're thinking of "For my Sake". The person he is talking about about is his former corrupted self. He has broken off all ties with his former life. No one knows a person like they know themselves

I believe this song is talking about how someone that they [the band/Brent] changed so much, and it's like they don't know they anymore. It's saying that that change destroyed the past relationship and it will never be the same for either of them ("everything that mattered is just a city of dust covering both of us"). It's pretty much talking about the change in people we used to know, and how they're like a different person to us after that
