I interpret the song to be by an addict. Knowing rationally that what she is doing is harming herself, but she can't help it. And even though she acknowledges that she's caused her problems herself, she's asking for help and comfort and friendship. It's a plea for understanding and compassion. Very moving. Help, I have done it again I have been here many times before Hurt myself again today And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me Ouch I have lost myself again Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found, Yeah I think that I might break I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small I'm needy Warm me up And breathe me

But that'd be too obvious in my opinion. I read a biography of Sia and noticed, that her first love was hit by a taxi and died. Afterwards she had alcohol and drug problems. So like the NIN Song "With Teeth" the song can be seen as a Metaphor for feeling alone and try to kill the pain with alcohol or drugs. Hold me, wrap me up (when you're depressive and drink/do drugs, you feel safe and warm, like in a blurry "wrap") Unfold me (Alcohol at first gives you the feeling of relief, and seems to take away worries and caginess) I am small and needy (typical thoughts of a depressive person) warm me (Especially strong liquor, has a warming effect on the whole body) And breathe me (consume me, suck me in...At first you consume drugs, but when you're addicted the drugs consume you) But most likely it's about needing a friend and using drugs and alcohol as substitute. The song can be interpreted in many ways, very strong lyrics and very touching. I was once addicted to alcohol and really could relate to every line of the song.
