I think this is about a bad relationship that one of the band members has had, and how it changed them, and how they lost all that they had before.

(He hears the old him telling him it was a stupid idea. That him and the girl were never going to work out, and they won't work out if he tries again)

(Showing a different story, this says that she forced him to love her, or possibly tricked him into it)

I feel that this song is about a relationship that really wasn't real.......or a relationship that didn't end well. I'm assuming so many things......basically a relationship that wasn't good because they didn't really love each other.......

This song is basically about the transformation that the band has gone through from their old albums to the new album. It explains the whole reasoning behind changing their masks and style of vocals. Dead Memories meaning all the old memories of the band have died and they are building new memories.
