"duality is about standing at the crossroads of your life, looking down both paths, and going, 'now what am I going to do?'"

Hey idiot above me, he wasn't pretending to be corey, he was quoting him.

Hey guys, take it easy on the guy who wrote that it's about a migraine.
No interpretations are wrong.
But I do HIGHLY doubt that's what they meant the song to be about.
Leave the interpretations up to the listeners and fans.
It's all how you chose to look at it.

To me the song talks about how hard one's life can be,and the struggle of trying to make it better. Maybe I'm wrong, but that doesn't matter. It's what I think that counts.Stay[sic]

I think its both the cross roads and the headache of making the right decision and being unsure about what one you should choose so you have a headache from a very difficult decision in your life. But who cares what I think?

"I push my finger into my eye" is referring to how one holds their head when they have a migraine. A migraine brought about by making hard decisions. By looking at yourself, and not liking what you see, as well as thinking about how you got there and how to change. That is what I believe the song is about.

It's about anything really. It's about all the bullshit that anyone ever in their lives ever has to take and it never stops. Ever heard the phrase kill the mental pain with physical pain? You'd rather push your fingers into your eyes than put up with it

I think it is also about making decisions, but when you make them you may not get what you originally wanted. "I found out the hard way, nothing is what it seems."

I saw the song as you have a pain in one place, you cause pain somewhere else to forget about the original, for say "I push my fingers into my eyes... It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache..."

I'm not sure what the song is about, yet it reminds me of my muscular dystrophy. How it feels to me that the pain is endless.

This song is confusing, but even though this might not make sence, but this song is about having many choices in front of you, having no clue wich path to choose, take my advice many people think this song is about being emo, and stuff but its not if it was it would be something about cutting yourself ok, so this song is confusing but it has some meaning into it.

This song used to always made me think about chronic headaches but then I got cancer and started going through chemotherapy. This song, to me anyway, really does a good job of explaining the emotions of a person going through more aggressive cancer and chemo. You get the disease and then you get pumped full of drugs that drive you fucking insane and are really just slowly killing you and you have no choice, inner hell or death. In that it is sort of like a crossroads only with two very hellish paths.

duality is about feeling like your life is a clash and trying to find some clarity. oh yeah, and how did that dude think the top guy was trying to pretend to be corey. dumbass!

Its simple. Its choosing the lesser of two evils. Sticking your fingers in you eyes hurt. However, it beats the pain of a bad headache. Two dual pains. Which is worse? Bad marriage or divorce? Dead end job or unemployment? Giving up fried food or health problems? It goes on and on.

The song is about the separation of your unified self into the ego self. Where "Reality" is merely an illusion set up by your ego self. Only you can create what happens in your "Reality", and only you can change it. Put me back together Or separate the skin from bone Leave me all the Pieces, then you can leave me alone Tell me the reality is better than the dream But I found out the hard way, Nothing is what it seems!

I'm not a slipknot fan and I still couldn't miss the meaning of this song. I'm not really into this style but it spoke to me the first tim I heard it. I don't know if it's just me but this song seems to be an anthem for people who are simply in a really bad place in their life and is experiencing a lt of frustration and emotional pain. "if the pain goes on I'm not gonna make it" - if this feeling doesn't stop I'm not sure I can come out of this unscarred

"its made of all the things I have to take" - the pain he's trying to distract himself from, his frustration all stems from having to take people's bullshit and he just wants them to give him a break- "Leave me all the pieces then you can leave me alone".

It's how I interpret the song anyway. I see this as a song about being plagued with bullshit and just being so frustrated you feel so helpless that you have to so something anything to get it out- "dig my fingers into my eyes". Diffferent people may interpret it differently but that's how I see it!

It's about relieving stress by pushing your fingers into your eyes or in shor emoness. I know it's a stereotype that most people that listen to this kind of music are thought of to be emo. Some are but not all. Any way back to the song, it is just about hurting yourself to make the emotional pain in your mind into physical pain so you can better deal with it.

Taylor explained the story behind the album's first single, "Duality," which features the repeated line "I push my fingers into my eyes." "Did you ever get that headache that is just not going to go away, and you end up sticking your thumb and middle finger so far into your eyes, just to stop the pain?" he explained. "It usually has to do with making a choice. You get to that point in everyday life when you have to make a decision that you may not want to, but you're kind of pushed into that position. " 'Duality' is about standing at the crossroads of your life, looking down both paths, and going, 'Now what am I going to do?' " -Corey Taylor

Maybe it's about that adrenaline where you feel twice as strong as you are.
