To this idiot above me, prosthetics came out on slipknot self titled, which came out in 1999, how the hell can it be about a movie that came out in 2004 >

This song is about a movie. But not the one you're talking about, I think. The movie is about a man obsessing over a woman, and when he can't have her, he kidnaps and murders her, so that she lives in only his memory, so that nobody else could have her. Its mainly just an Obsession/Murder song like Purity.

Hey guy 3 above me, the Collector was made in the 1960's so before you call someone an idiot, pull your head out of your ass and go out and buy a brain stem

I saw it as a perhaps a dream that he had seeing a bully leaning out his window, mocking him as he walked by. Corey didn't take a liking to it so he broke the window that came crashing down to soon sever his arms, hence Prosthetics. Makes sense to me that way.

Personally I think it's about a man who's fallen for a girl he flirts with to the point of obsession and kidnapped her, pulled her out the window and kept her in his house. He won't hurt her so long as he can have his way "Better make yourself at home You're here to stay You won't bother me... If you let me bother you" and he says that he watches her, so she shouldn't try to escape He can't let her go even though he knows it's wrong cause he'll be in the shit "what the fuck is different, I can't believe I'm doing this". I don't think he would blame her for running though, hence the line "Even if you run". This line doesn't really fit with the previous, so I understand it as he's talking to himself, like: I'll love you (Even if you run) or I'll be watching.... I can see the correlation with The collector.

He was convicted of statutory rape. He had sex with a minor, hence the line, "Dammit man I knew it was a mistake", The girl seduced his senses to the point to where he slept with her, hence,"You brought it out of me, Mistake!" Some of the phrases in the song are metaphores.

I think this song is about an obsession of a girl that he cannot have before he kidnaps ehr and keeps her in his house or somewhere which is represented in the lyrics and will only hurt her if she tries to escape, in the demo version of this song she escapes and the man comes after her and accidentally kills her, the next part is him trying to dispose of the corpse and he himself going insane with "what the **** has happened I can't believe I'm doing this" going around in his head before going completely insane which explains the manic laughter at the end of the song

In Slipknot: Unmasked (Again) by Joey McIver, it says the Prosthetics is based on the narrative in The Collector, in which an obsessive sociopath kidnaps a teenage girl and keep her in his house until she dies of pneumonia.

This song is about a man who kidnaps a woman he is infatuated with but she is repulsed by him so he kills her and then has sex with her
