This is about a girl named Purity Night who was kidnapped by her boyfriend and buried alive in a box under the ground. The lyrics are about what might have been going through her mind while she was kept alive in that wooden box for seven days. You can have a look at the Purity Night case on www.crimescene.com.

You're kind of right. It wasn't her boyfriend it was a person that she turned down I think, it was a stalker, it ways it on the website. Purity Knight was a 19 year old colledge student and was kidnapped the reason why people can' find this on a SLipknot album is because they got sued for the song and also the song Frail Limb Nursery, which has a girl whop knew purity talking in it. They put it on their self titled album. I have the album and it's kick ass but after they got sued they put me inside as it's replace ment. like tattered and torn it really has no meaning. It's just how he feels.

Purity -Back To Top This track also has an intro, it is "Frail Limb Nursary" and is highly misunderstood. It is a compilation of samples taken from the Crime Scene site that first inspired Corey to change the demo "Despise" into "Purity" It's basically a clip of Purity telling a story to the young boy who took care of her while she was buried. He would bring her food in exchange for her telling him extravagant stories. The song Purity was written when Corey came across a website located at http://www.crimescene.com/purity/index.html It told the story of Adrianne Purity Knight, a 20 year old college student who was stalked by an obsessed ex-lover. Eventually, this man ended up burying young Purity in a homemade wooden box alive. She died. Shawn: It's like this- whether it's real or not, it affected Corey very much, the thought of it- so it was able to influence him- the song is not directly one hundred percent about it. Corey: "I still think its real -see the thing whether it's true or not, it's a real story- that we read about -that fucked our whole world up -can you imagine a girl being buried in a box and having all this lecherous bullshit drip down on her from this guy? and thinking that there is hope, because this kid is taking some bizarre note to this guy he doesn't even know- thinking that you are holding on to the shirt of hope -and you wake up and you're dead you're buried in mud -they find the note about a week later shoved in a library book for gods sakes -it just hurts your head- it's a case of what is good and bad in people- the box alone is reason enough to be like, 'I can't stand to be fucking human'- how can someone fucking do this to somebody? What is inside of us that is so fucking wrong? he had written quotes from Edgar Allen Poe and lots of fucked up things on the box."

its about the purity knight case. and how fucked up it is. It also has some relations to a old 70's movie called the collector.

HOLLYWOOD! what the hell are you on buddy? It is about a 19 year old girl being trapped in a box for a week, and only that little boy was her only hope. HOWEVER there was a disclaimer on www.crimescene.com (not sure if this is there anymore) but it said that all the cases and interviews and everything aren't real, that they are made up stories of fiction... either way, its an amazing song, by an amazing band, written by an amazing vocalist/songwriter

the purity case is real. www.crimescene.com/purity yall should check it out. In my opinion what happened is so messed up by how another person would do something like that to somebody else. but the song is about the purity case that Corey stumbled upon somehow and his band mates told interviewers that when he read the case file that it just inspired him so much and made him wonder what inside us just went wrong to allow ourselves to do something that terrible to somebody. but that may not be true I mean it could mean something entirely different than what I just said.

Well even though the band found out that it wasn't real. Plus Adrianne Purity Knight was a 20 year old girl. And yes it was her x boyfriend. Just think how fucked up that shit is that girl must have been so fucking scared. Plus as the little 9 yr. old boy showed up and nobody came to save her.

Its about a girl that was buried alive in a wooden box. Most posts have mentioned it...this is the true meaning, corey said it himself. He also said that it is one of the few songs he's written that creep him out, or something like that...

The case is actually fictional. Slipknot wrote the song without the knowledge that it was fictional.
