i always thought this song was about how a record company screwed them over by using them to get money, so they used them basically that's where spit it out came from.
"spit it out" meaning once your done with it spit it out and get rid of it.

This song is about posers and the like. It's against anyone who talks shit, or talks the talk, but won't buck up, or walk the walk.

On a more specific basis, Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit were a less general target of this song. They certainly apply to the "poser" ideals, and have been causing JJ and the boys lots of trouble.

This is how Corey Taylor explains this song on the welcome to our neighborhood dvd

he says that it is about a kid who falls in love with a girl and the girl gets killed, and he finds out that she was hiding lots of things from him which he would never find out

in other words he wants her to "spit it out"

I think its a mob song... I mean listen to the lyrics.

Payoffs don't protect
and you can hide if you want but ill find you
comin up behind you

i just think it sounds like a mob song

cause in the interest of all involved, I got the problem solved and the verdict is guilty
MAN NEARLY KILLED ME!

This song is about all the fake shit in the world. The posers and the wannabes. It's telling you to either be yourself or get the fuck out! You need to listen to this song, its awesome. And they REFUSE to play that here in the NC on ANY station so you know what? I'm moving to Iowa. :DDD

In early interviews it has been stated the song is directed at a DJ that bad mouthed Slipknot and refused to play their music on some radio station... If you do a little research it isn't hard to find out which Jock and Radio Station it's pointed at.

This song says to everyone that they need to stop candy coating bullshit and just spit out what you have to say reguardless of what anyone thinks. Say what you mean, not what people expect of you.

Spit it out is obviously an angry song, written in retaliation to a Des Moines, Iowa radio station who liked to bash Slipknot and not play their material. Two years later, Spit It Out was in that station's regular rotation.... go figure... Another side note to add about Spit it Out, it was the original single off the self titled album, it's video was based on "The Shining" and was then immediately banned from MTV due to it's violent undertones. -Corey Taylor
