The first verse is about how he misses his girlfriend, and how he wishes it was how it use to be... The chorus is telling us how She's become famous in some way and pretty much has forgot about him..."if you don't like being hurt then please don't stay" is how he feel's and he's trying to make it sound like he really doesn't care much.. when really he does... " a phone call from L.A. Is my present" mean's it's what he's been waiting for... I wish that there was something worth the time
for her to give to me.

This is saying that he doesn deserve to be with her and that he doesn't know how to please her anymore, or make her happy... SO he's giving up.
