I belive the song may be about a lose of someone close to one of the band members. And how eveyday following that is lonely be cause of the person not being there. And the person is happy to of survied the lose of the person but unavoidably will always fell the lonlyness ever more. Almost as if when he says it's a day he was glad he survived he trying to reassure himself all will be well with the days yet to come.

This song is actually about Daron being in a fight with his current girlfriend and his ex. They were both really mad at him, so he felt like he was alone that day, therefore: the name. He said this himself in an interview on www.soadfans.com

People are beginning to become condemned in their own little world. They blame all but themselves for their problems so they don't see the world "burning way" even if its right in front of their eyes.

I think it's a song about the(one?)day in your life where you feel like no one understands you and you are alone.I think we can all relate to this song.

Ths song is about someone losing someone else to suicide-probably someone that was always there s noone ever thougt that they'd go. This song also has certain bits when the singer goes through bouts of despear and considers suicide an option to escape. Then at the end of such a episode he is relieved.

Ok, this song has nothing to do with what any of yall hav said. I saw on an interview with daron that they wrote in advance of their hiatus because they knew they were going to break up and decided to write a song about it. That's why they were in seperate tour buses on the video. They've been riding in separate buses for a few years now.

Well personally I thought that from the music video, it kinda had one of those 9/11 feelings, with like every one's stuff on fire. Actully I laughed the first time I saw it because it was all normal and then there's a traffic light on fire.... one of those "what the hell?" momments.

Well I'm not going to go against what The TrueAriel said, if daron says its what happened, then its what happened. but i's still like to share my opinion..
if you've ever seen the video it shows not only daron, serj, John and shavo, but regular people doing things with their daily lives. but in almost every shot, something in the background is on fire, but no one is taking any notice to it. I think the point of this song is that there is so much drama, chaos, and issues in the world, but no one really is taking any notice to it- weather it be the govornment hushing it up, or peoples' fear of getting mixed up in any of the issues and getting themselves hurt, so they choose to ignore things and go on with their normal lives.

I think that this person just feels like there is no one to go to nowhere to turn and that he has to face things by himself. I truly don't think that this has anything to do with the war so sorry but that's just weird. maybe he feels left out in the world. I know the truearial person already said it meant whatever he said but this is my opinion.

its such a lonely day and I'm glad to have survived

The reason why this song was made because Daron lost his Grandfather. He was the closest person to Daron, even his dad. He said so in one of his interviews.

well the part "and if you die, i wanna die with you" is referring to maybe if a certain loved one dies that they would probably commit suicide. and "take my hand and walk away" could mean that they were with the loved when they died and that they were holding their hand, also that the loved one wanted them to let go and live on with their lives.

Im the one that submitted the last interpretation and I wanted to add that "its a day I'm glad I survived" may mean that he's glad he didn't kill himself

I'm pretty sure either Daron or Serj's brother was killed in a fire, that is why there are fires in the music video.

so far, every interpretation ice seen on here has the same meaning:"I lost my best friend." At the end of the song there are the lyrics " It's a day I'm glad i survived." When i hear that, I think the singer is stating that he had almost commited suicide but learned how to deal with the pressure.

I believe that this song is about System of a Down's gutarist's (Daron Malakian's) brother dying in a fire. In the music video fires are displayed prominently, and lyrics such as "and if you die i want to die with you" suggest his deep depression. Also He is the only singer featured in the song and the only person who shows any emotion in the video suggesting that the other band member can't relate.

i think the song is about letting go of someone he loves for the good of himself. it a lonly day because he has to let go of this person. when he says (if you go i wana go with you if you die i wana die with you) hes saying he doesn't wana let go ove this person and when he says (take your hand and walk away) hes finaly letin go of this person with a hevy heart because that person is bad for him
