Shes looking back on her teenage years and thinking how foolish she was to fall for someone just because they told her that they loved her. She says that when you fifteen, you'll belive whatever someone tells you. "'cause when you're fifteen, and somebody tells you they love you, your gunna believe them."
She also saying that when she was fifteen she thought that she knew everything and "that there's nothing to figure out."
In this song she's basically going through her high school experience and heartbreak. She also shows her naivety, "and your thinking he's the one, and your dancing round your room when the night ends."
She says "in your life, you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team, I didn't know it at fifteen." I think that this means that in high school she thought 'dating the boy on the football team' was a real accopmplishment. I think that she is encouraging girls to have bigger aspirations than that.
She is also giving advice to the girls who listen to this song to watch out for the fake people who are trying to take advantage of you; "and when you're fifteen don't forget to look before you fall"

Overall, in this song I think she's trying to give advice to the young girls who listen to this song, she doesn't want them to make the same mistakes as her.

this is about her high school experience.... it is also about her true life friend, Abigail. she really does have a red head friend named Abigail. Basically, it is about her high school experiences with what she thought was love. she talks about how at 15, you dont know what your future will be and that what might be a big deal then, won't be later on.

It's quite obvious that this song is about been young and naive in high school. She explains that there's more out there than "dating the boy on the football team". Everyone who listens to this song is like, "she's so right!". Partly, yes, she is. But what I believe is that we're kids, we should be able to have a little bit of fun before facing adulthood. Of course, making Abigail's "mistake" is not what I'm implying. I'm just saying that although we shouldn't thing life revolves around popularity and attractive boys, we should still have fun before we go head-on into adulthood.

I bleivive this song is about people looking back at what they thought was important when they were fifteen but found as they grew older (matured) those things weren't as important as they thought they were.
