This song was definately about John Mayer, since she dated Harry Styles later on. It talks about how she fell for the assumed guy, only to end up broken and upset over the fact that she knew he was a bad boy, yet she went with him to only be cheated on. She also didn't listen to other people who told her about him. She ignored everything he did wrong because she loved him.
Basically, she went with the wrong guy and ended up on the "cold hard ground." -

I think this song is about a guy not liking you but you go for it anyways then you realize what a jerk he is and then you end up getting let down or hurt. I think this relates to the line sung in thr chorus I knew you were trouble when you walked in.

This song is about her going for the wrong guy and realizing that all he did was trouble. How he made her feel and how he changed her. "And I realize the blame is on me... so shame on me now... now i'm lying on the cold hard ground, etc." those all show how she's dissapointed in herself for even getting with him in the first place.

There's a guy that she's really attracted to,and he takes the opportunity and plays her, but then leaves. Now she's left with a broken heart, and is telling this guy that she blames herself because she knew he was going to break her heart all along. Then later in the song, she says that her biggest fear comes true and he never really loved her or anyone else, that he was only using them like a playa all along

*facepalm to all the people saying it's about Harry Styles* It is not about Harry. This song was released BEFORE they started dating. It is about her previous boyfriend. and Harry didn't cheat on Taylor. Yes, they have broken up now but not because Harry Cheated. Taylor broke up with him because she wasn't getting enough attention. Taylor Swift and Harry Styles didn't suit each other anyway. Haylor didn't work

This song was about her, falling for a guy who was trouble and getting hurt in the end. She saw all the warnings and red flags when she met him, but she disregarded that and went for it anyways. At the end, she realizes what she didn't want to believe and she regrets it. I agree with a previous anon, most girls could relate to this.

I agree with all the other meanings. It's about being attracted and going for someone you know is kind of an ass but you don't care because you're emotionally attracted to them. When they do something to hurt you, you blame it on yourself. In the end you begin to change yourself to satisfy this person, although it never does (the reason why in the music video the guy starts kissing on other girls, it's because he has found something in them that was new and that she didn't possess.) it's a very sad song about being used and treated horribly without realizing it.

I think alot of girls can relate to this song. it's hard because you know you shouldn't be with a certain person and you do it anyways. it's like we always want the ones who treat us bad for some reason, at least that's how i feel sometimes! it's good to know that there's someone who i can relate to. that's why i love Taylor!

I heard it was about Harry Styles, but I don't care about who it is, I LOVE THIS SONG.
I guess it's about somebody who attratcs you, but for the wrong reasons. Then when you get hurt you blame yourself cause you could see that person was wrong from the start. You didn't care than, but you care now. You could see he didn't love you, or anyone before. -
