Her best friend is dating some preppie Ra-Ra (cheerleader) who doesn't like his music, doesn't get his jokes, doesn't understand him, and in general doesn't belong with him the way she does. Taylor, however, knows all his favorite songs, knows him better than anyone, gets his jokes, is where he turns to for help, and all around gets him. But apparently he's a bit shallow because she's not the girlie-girl, high heels and short shorts girl, she's the tennis, worn out jeans, and t-shirts girl who apparently doesn't attrack him the way the preppie ra-ra does.

Taylor has obviously known the guy for a long time and they are best friends, but nothing more. When he starts dating another girl, Taylor starts to realize how he'll be better off with her because she knows his music, gets his jokes, and all in all understands him. It's a classic love story interpreted into a song.

Basically, Taylor has a best guy friend and she secretly likes him. The guy starts to date a cheerleader who is the polar opposite of Taylor, and the guy. Taylor waits and waits for the guy to give up on the cheerleader and start a relationship with her. Eventually, he does ;)
