Someone asked about the references to mojo in this song. Jim Morrison sings "Mr Mojo Risin'" a lot in the song. The letters in MR MOJO RISIN can be rearranged to spell JIM MORRISON. Below I take one letter at a time from MR MOJO RISIN and spell out Jim's name. So perhaps it was a nickname or something for the Lizard King? MR MOJO RISIN rearranged into JIM MORRISON. MR MOJO RISIN MR MO O RISIN J MR MO O RSIN JI R MO O RSIN JIM R O O RSIN JIM M R O RSIN JIM MO O RSIN JIM MOR O SIN JIM MORR O SN JIM MORRI O N JIM MORRIS N JIM MORRISO JIM MORRISON

This song is about driving into LA and looking for a woman (most likely a hooker) to spend the night with. It asks "are you a lucky little lady in the city of lights/ or just another lost angel... city of night, oh city of night". This refers to the light and dark sides of the city and of people. Is she a woman who has sex with him consensually, or a destitute woman who needs the cash? And yes, "Mr. Mojo Risin" does rearrange to spell "Jim Morrison", and that's considered to be a self-reference.

The song in general is about a drive through Los Angeles and encountering sights like bungalows, strip clubs, cops, and various other sights that Los Angeles has to offer. The "I see your hair is burning" line probably refers to his wife during the time her wrote that song, Patricia Kennealy-Morrison. She had red hair. The City of Night line refers to the John Rechy book of the same name, in which a hustler visits several cities including L.A. Mr Mojo Risin is an anagram for Jim Morrison and it's also his alter-ego.

The whole song is about LA period. His love and disgust for the city. And I see your hair is burning is the sunrise in LA's horizon. Hills are filled with fire........

Jim Morrison wrote this song as an homage to la. He met ray manzarek at ucla- which is how the doors started. Mr mojo risin was a name jim gave to himself. He said it would be his fake name if he "skipped off to africa". Some people think he staged his own death and actually did go to africa under the name mojo risin we'll never know

I think its a love song with a murderous undertone in it. Mowtown money, murder madness, lets change the mood form glad to sadness!
