   This "anachronism" could mean something entirely different from the established meaning of the word. This anachronism she is singing about (or rather, whining about) could be that she is simply out of place in every way: out of place in her family, out of place in society, and out of place in humanity. Think about it. The lyrics implicate she has sociopathic tendencies--"there I go again, pretending to be you. Make-believing that I have a soul beneath the surface." Some would say psychopaths/sociopaths don't have souls; they are wolves, but they are constantly pretending to be one among the sheep. People are missing the point of this song completely. Read between the lines. Each lyric describes a sociopath (or at least a narcissist, which are often confused for sociopaths because they have similar characteristics) and hits everything on Hare's checklist: (for those of you who are educated enough to get that) the reckless behavior, the disregard for gravity or defeat, the numerous persuasive excuses. If sociopaths feel anything at all, it's the feeling of being out of place. Their lives are structured around lies and fake identities which they must maintain to save their lives.    This song is my theme music. I dont go through one day without feeling like she does. I am manic deppressive and do feel"out of place" and "In the wrong time period." Peole think I am insane because of this... And well.. I guess I am.

   I think it's about bipolar disorder. When she talks about strings breaking and breaking more, and pills cpmeing too late and issues just seems like a mix of highs and lows. " and you can tell ... The attention just incurages her" that whole paragraph sounds like the deppression side of things.    This one is tough. The lyrics sound like insanity but an anachronism is a person or thing that is chronologically out of place. So, anyone else know? In my opinion, I'll compromise and say going insane because of being an anachronism.
