ok this may not be true however i read from another blog that "andy" in the song is a reference to andy mesersmith, brandons high school gym teacher. throughout his schooling he bullied him and stole his girlfriend. with that in mind it is possible that he is not admiring him rather poking fun at andy with very sarcastic lyrics. so the song could be a satire making fun of andy. "on the match with the boys you think youre alone" my interpretation is that despite playing a team game andy is alone because he is a talented sportsman and stands out amongst the reast. discuss..

This is really annoying me that everyone automatically goes straight for, this song is about a gay guy! Who says it's about a guy at all? The singer's point of view might be a girl. Who knows. It would still account for the sadness of Andy having a girl in his car. Just because the singer is a guy doesn't mean it's his story.

I actually do think this song could connect to Jenny had a friend of mine. I believe that This song is jenny's prespective of one of her crushes. I also think Hot Fuss is all about jenny's murder, it's just a thought.

you know, Brandon Flowers is not gay!!!! He has a wife and just recently had his second kid, gunner flowers and he has a 2 year old Addon. He's not gay so just get that stupid stereo type out of your head. Brandon explained in an interview about the song human that "it may be wrong grammar (are human or are we dancer) but i can do what ever i want, right? hahah."

First off, you guys have it ALL wrong. The Killers are from this little ol' town in Utah called Nephi. I know because I live here and I've been to the house where the used to rehearse at before they got all big and famous.

This song is about this guy, his name is Andy Messersmith. He's a total douche bag, he was my gym teacher last year and this song makes fun of him. Andy used to pick on the singer when they were in school. Would you have a gay crush on the guy that made your high school career hell?? Didn't think so.

I was watching videos of the song on Youtube and a few comments were from people who claim to go to the same high school Brandon went to. They say Andy was a wrestling star who made fun of Brandon for being gay in high school. Andy tried to become a pro wrestler but failed and now works at the same high school, at which his father is the principal of. They also say that Brandon and the other Killers visited Andy after he became famous while Andy was just a loser and sang this song to him. At least that's what the comments say. Also, I think iTunes says it's about a stalker.

Brandon Flowers is from NEPHI UTAH!!! and he was not nor is he gay!!! Andy was a complete ass hole in high school and picked on brandon.. Andy is one of those guys who thinks hes a "STAR".. Brandon wrote the song just to piss Andy off because Brandon made something of himself while Andy is a gym teacher.... "ANDY YOUR A FREAKING STAR"

Ok. First of all. He is not GAY! Brandon Flowers went to Juab High School in Nephi Utah for some period. He Left his junior year to live with his aunt in Vegas. while we was here there was a football, wrestling star. Of course names Andy. Brandon was jealous of Andy. and wanted to be just like him. He would watch andy play and was amazed "Andy your a star". They became friends and still are to this day. I know this because I went to Juab High School. And live in Nephi. And Andy became a history/gym teacher and became the wrestling coach.

Brandon is from a small town called nephi where he played golf and went to school with ANDY which is an ass and always has been. Brandon had this girlfriend that meant a lot to him and Andy stole her away she is actually referred to as JENNY in a lot of songs but Brandon got his revenge cause when of our kids that go to the school where Andy teaches told him he was a star and Andy assaulted the kid and lost his job and is made to look like the fool he has always been.

I was in the same high school as brandon. andy messersmith was a real ass hole to brandon. used to tell him to shut up all the time. now brandon's rich and famous and andy the super athlete never really amounted to anything other than becoming an even bigger ass hole.

Andy was a football star and a "popular" jock in high school. Andy thought he was all that and probably made fun of brandon or something like that. It took place at Juab High School where they both attended. Andy actually coaches at the high schoool right now. I don't know the interpretation, but i know brandoon is not gay and is married to a woman.

This song is actually about a kid that the lead singer went to Highschool about. Andy Messersmith no not the baseball player. Recently he was a coach at Juab Highschool in Utah.

I personally agree with imaginarybeast interpretation and the like, but I differ on the conclusions. I too hear a very sarcastic note in the lyrics. "Andy you're a star, in nobody's eyes but mine", means that the populraity Andy onced used to have in his High-school years has now totally vanished, he's a mr. noone for the rest of the world. I don't think Flowers envys him, though, on the contrary I think he's just making fun of him, like: "you're nobody now, I'm a star, who's got the upper hand, now, huh?" It seems this Andy (if he really existed) must have been a badass towards Flowers and made him suffer, but now Brandon has the upper hand and Andy continues to be a star only in the singer's memories. That's all. IMO
