I am nearly positive that Bert is talking about how he believes in God, but he is giving up a future in heaven for his life on earth; even if it means that he will never be free from the torment of sin. And he wishes that everything wasn't black and white; and he will somehow try to contact us when he dies with the "I'll let you know when I go part."

It's not about God, though Bert makes a bunch of spiritual references. It's about living a life that goes against the grain. The world tries to tell you that you can live as a drone who never disrupts society and will lead a happy normal life, OR you can live as a criminal and suffer. But Bert's talking about breaking free from the world's expectations and how there HAS to be somewhere where people can go where they won't get judged, where they can thrive, and the "I'll let you know when I go...when I'm gone" is saying that he's going to find it.

These guys are from Orem, Utah. (Mormon capital of the world) I think it'd be obvious they have some religious references growing up in the area. maybe they grew up in that church. who knows?

This song is about how Bert doesn't want to be religious..... and he tries to leave but God won't let him "light with a sharpened edge cuts through the black empty space we call sky..." the black empty sky is what he is seeing when he is dead... and the light is God saving him.... and Bert is trying to make the point that he isn't the only one who wants to give up... and he's kinda saying that some people can't give up... like the sun.... There's more but o well.....

i don't think it's about mormon i think he is saying he doesn't fit so he will find out. plus he's no mormon he likes monster and they hate caffine
