The song is about a guy whose girlfriend has "got something big to tell me". The big news is that his girlfriend is 10 days late. In other words, she is 10 days late to get her period and therefore probably pregnant. The line "Funny how she always cried out daddy" points out the irony how she always cried out daddy when the made love and now he IS a daddy. Another powerful line goes "Your eyes look to me for what to do, I can't lie, I don't know". His girlfriend looks to him to decide to do, but he is just as clueless as she.
