Three Days Grace: Never Too Late Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Never Too Late Lyrics
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Who would have guessed it
I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I...

This song starts out with a young girl happy with her life, dancing around in a circle. This shows them as one big happy family. When her parents leave the man with the sweater comes in and she has no one else so she trusts him. It shows the girl's parents with tape over their eyes to show that they can't see the pain she is going through. The woman being taken by the nurses is the little girl as a woman. She is being brought into an insane asylum because the pain of the days when the sweater man had molested her were too painful and brought her to try and commit suicide. The hands that are holding the woman down are the molester's hands because what he did brought her there. It keeps showing the little girl and they are the memories of the woman's innocence of childhood and how it was taken away. The black hand prints you see show that she was touched everywhere by the sweater man because you see the black ink on his hands. The winged man attacking the sweater man is not a demon as so many others have stated. He is her guardian angel and is attacking the molester (or sweater man) to protect her. As the guardian angel wins feathers start to fall on both the little girl and the woman showing that she is free from this memory of the molester. The woman walks away, smiling, not held down anymore because her guardian angel has freed her.

From watching the video I think the song is about a girl who was molested by the man in the red sweater, which seemed to be like a father or step father. The guy with the black wings in NOT a demon, its her guardian angel. Her older self was having flash backs as they were tying her down in the nut house of the times that he molested her. The black hand prints are a metaphor of the fact that she was touched everywhere by him. At the end you see the black winged man fighting with her "father" trying to protect her, and as his feathers from his wings fall down on her, it is telling her that she is safe now because he defeated the father.
"Even if I say it'll be alright, still I hear you say you want to end your life"
"The world we knew, won't come back. The time we've lost, can't get back. The life we had, won't be ours again."
I can relate to this song and its video because that happened to me when I was younger, and its so true. No matter what anyone tells you, it will never be alright inside. Everything that you were you aren't because you are forever scared from it. Your life changes and your not the same person, and the time it takes to somewhat recover, if you ever do, you will never ever get back. -

I've heard a lot of interpretations and I've agreed with many of them. I belivee that the song means that no matter how bad your life was, there is a way you can get out of it; like a way to "start over". At the begining of the video, the little girl is happy with her parents, who have no clue of her upcoming pain (the tape over their eyes), until the man in the sweater comes. The older woman in the mental asylum is the grownup "version" of the younger child. She was there because she had tried to kill herself (commit suicide) because of what the man in the sweater did to her. The black hand prints are showing how much that man molested the girl. The black "angel" (this is misunderstood by many) is the girl's guardian, protecting her from the man with the black paint on his hands (the guy with the sweater), fighting him to keep the girl safe. Once the man was defeated, black feathers fall onto the woman's bed showing her that she was safe (also noticed she was no longer strapped down)and telling her everything will be alright and "its not too late, its never too late". At the very end of the video, she gets up and walks away smiling because her guardian had defeated the man in the sweater, and she realized that it "wasn't too late".

There is this guy who loves this girl so much and will do anything for her. But all she wants to do is end her life and not have to deal with the misery. She thinks that it's too late to save her. But he's saying that nothing is ever too late. All the guy wants to do is protect her and help her.
I relate to this song so much. I'm suicidal and my boyfriend always tells me that it's not worth it. He loves me to much and it's not to late to start over and change. Though at times I don't believe him.... -

This happened to me, except no guardian angel
I'd kill myself if it weren't for a girl I like... -

I was reading "The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus" by Marlowe, and there is an excerpt that says:
FAUSTUS: Ay, go, accursed spirit, to ugly hell.‘Tis thou hast damn’d distressed Faustus’ soul.
Is’t not too late?
Evil Angel: Too late.
Good Angel: Never too late, if Faustus can repent.
I think the song is for someone who gave his sould in exchange for something he or she thought will bring him/her happinest, but in at the end he/she finds ...
"This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Who would have guessed it?"
that what she/he wished for is not giving him what he really expected, acceptance.
And yet he is not willing to give up everything that he/she has earned.
"I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late"
and ask for forgiveness.
in the book Dr. Faustus was not a good man nor a bad man, he gave his soul for knowledge.
What if this song is about this type of people, who give anything for their cause, loosing much more than they expected, breaking their moral compass and wishing their were dead from time to time, but hanging in their situation thinking that "is not too late (for regret)" and also arrogance. -

this song is about a little girl with a perficet life at first. then when her parents leave her life changes because the guy in the red sweater malests her. then when her parents get back there eyes are taped shut because they are blind to the pain the little girl is in. then they show the girl getting draged by nerses into a mental hospital because she keeps haveing flash backs of the malestation and the pain is to much so she trys to kill herself.there are black hand prints everywhere and the guy with the red sweater has black paint on his hands whitch symbolises that he has touched her everywhere. then the guy with the black wings come in and starts fighting the guy in the red sweater. then the guy with the block wings feathers are falling everywhere. then aat the end of the song the restraints on her arms and legs go away and she gets up and start walking with a smile on her face.
i can relate to this because my dad actualy did malest me when i was younger. the lyrics "the world we knew, wont come back. the time we've lost, wont come back. the life we once had, wont be ours again" because the person that molested use took away the world, time and life we had and they never will be the same again. -

I think that the video is saying she loses her parents because they dance ina circle-life-bu5t then they let go of her hands-maybe saying they died and the sweater man comforts her and fools her into trusting him, but it turns out he isn't good as is shown when you see black handprints all over the wall and the girl and see he made them from the black ink on his hand, this is saying he molested her perhaps because he's touched everywhere. The winged man is not a demon as some have said but a guardian angel who fights the sweater man and defeats him, meanwhile the girl has later on in life been put in an asylum because she can't deal with the fact that the sweater man molested her. The restraints turn into the mans hands because he is holding her down and preventing her from living her life happily, when the angel defeats the sweater man feathers fall on the girl and woman both because they are purifying her and freeing her from the sweater man. She walks away from the asylum bed smiling vbecause she is free from her memories and able to live life properley again

I think this video is an example of a girl who grew up being sexually abused, probably by someone she knew. And because of it, it caused so much pain, she wanted to take her life. The guy with the wings helps her. And she becomes free of being trapped in feeling like she was not able to deal with problems that she had. I was sexually abused. And I think it paints a clear picture of what my life was like for a while after wards. Just like the woman going to the hospital. I am better. My memories are better.

Well i Belive the song is giving the message that sometimes life isnt what we expected, but throught that pain of lose its never too late. In the video we see a child happy with her parents and im guessing they let a friend or family member into their home trusting him with their daughter. They had blinde trust in him( man in the sweater), but he molested the little girl and we see that by the black prints he leaves all over the little girl. Either her parents didn't want to see what the man was doing to her or they honestly were blinded. Cause the song say " No one will ever see this side reflected" and her parents had tape on their eyes. So as An adult shes still brought down by what this man did to her so she tries to end her life and ends up in an assalym. At the end shes finally set free by her Gardian Angel. I think her Angel was black cause the place she was in was dark. Its usally a dark place when you want to take your life away. Even though we go through dark places theres always hope cause its not to late its never too late.

I agree with most of these, except for one thing: the doctors the girl is dancing with at the beginning are most likely not her parents, but doctors from the asylum. It could symbolize that these doctors are trying to help her but do not know what caused her pain, therefore they cannot truly help her.

i agree with the top full length interpretation, but i think the gaurdian angel might also have something to do with death seeing as the song was written in memory of adam's daughter.

i bealive that this video shows a little girl that was raped at a young age and never got over it. so as a older lady it drove her crazy leading her to the loony bin. there she remembers about that time when the man rape her. the man with wings is not her angel i bealive but her will and mind strength to get over what has happend so long ago. and there she finaly gets over it and walks away. but idk if she died or not because she wasent walking stright, she was walking vertically if any one has noticed.

I think a lot of the posts here are correct.... but I think the man in the sweater is her father because he has access to her bedroom and it's like he comes looking for her (like when she hides under the bed)... Showing that she can't hide from him and can't escape him because he lives with her.. He is her father.
The words "it's never too late" is a friend encouraging the child/teen/woman who is depressed and thinks there is no hope of having a happy life. He says that it's never too late to start living a happy life, having a happy future.
He says that the time she lost, as in that time when she was an innocent child, she should have been able to live happy and be a child and be carefree and innocent, but her molester took that time away because instead of happy childhood memories, she has nightmarish memories. The singer says that that time is gone, it's lost, they can't go back and change it now, but it's never too late to start a new life of happiness. So there is extreme loss and horror (as shown by her in the mental institution, showing how what happened to her affects her greatly as an adult), but he is trying to encourage her to not commit suicide and is trying to help her have hope that she can have some control over her life now that she is away from her abuser. But she is so tormented by the past and memories that even if her friend says "it will be alright" and he will be there for her always and she can totally trust him, she can't help but wanting to end her life because nothing can make it better.. nothing can take away what happened and the torture in her mind. She still feels, as an adult, that she has no control, as depicted by the hands of her father holding her down, like the bed restraints. She can't escape her torture.
The seemingly happy little family in the video when they are playing together is not the reality. Even her father, if he is the molester thinks things are great. The mother is oblivious or refuses to see what is going on. The father's sick mind can't see his badness, he thinks everything is great too. He can do what he wants to to the little girl because she's "his".
"This world will never be what I expected"... meaning that as a child, you are innocent, you are supposed to have a nice happy family with good parents you can trust, but that's far from the reality in her situation.
The one with the wings looks like it's someone who saves her. She imagines (and smiles, as an adult) thinking of someone saving her from her father when she was a child.
At the end of the video, she didn't commit suicide, she broke free from the torturous memories. Like as if her molester no longer could control her life anymore, not even with the memories of what happened. She is free and it's not too late for her to start a life of her own, not one that is still controlled by her molester. Then it shows her as a child going in to bed all peaceful,as her childhood would have been had it not been for her molester doing awful things to her.
Wow what a song. It shows a little bit of what people go through who were abused as children. I wish child abusers would go through their own torture, and be tortured a million times worse than what they caused to the children. -

This song is about the lead singers friend Adam, who as a child was raped by the sweater man. As the girl gets older she cannot escape the depression that is overcoming her. In the middle it shows the parents dancing in a circle with tape over their eyes to show they don't know what is happening to the child. Later in the video it shows the girl as an older woman trapped tied to a bed, and then the ties are replaced with the man in the sweaters hand to show that she cannot escape him and what happened to her as a child. In the end it shows her angel fighting of the sweater man to try and protect her, but she winds up committing suicide.

this song... its so touching. he sings how you can't give up hope, that no matter what happens, you can always turn back and start again. you shouldn't just give up on life. you need to realize that its "not to late, its never too late". no matter what kinda crap you go through, you cant give up. u need to keep going. move on. if someone tries to put you down, don't listen to them. there speaking crap. you need to realize that its not too late.

The little girl dancing with her parents i think is the life that the parents thought they had , but the bandages over there eyes show they did not realize what was happening to her.She was obviously touched by the (sweater man).It was in fact the memory of this man and what he did that caused her to try to commit suicide and was holding her in the institution.Hiding under the bed as a little girl and then being found was her hiding from what had happened instead of dealing with the trauma. The butterfly was an apiphany that began the process of dealing with what happened to her which is why i think when the man had his hand on her shoulder as a little girl, she decides to move away from him and leave him behind.I may be way off on this but i feel the blackened angel is HER because as a little girl she had the black wings that i think show when she began to be molested. It was her that was fighting the (sweater man) or the memory of him,and the falling black feathers were her sheding the evil that held her for many years. If you noticed, the black feathers began to fall when she moved away from the (sweater man) touching her shoulder. Walking away from the bed and smiling was the begining of her recovery. God be with anyone this has happened to.
