A lot of people seem to think this song is about vampires but it is actually about a ghost story that takes place around a lake or something called possum kingdom.

Vampires? Really? Haven't heard that one. I've always just thought it was about love and insanity. Especially after hearing the song "Tyler" which is about a real incident from Tyler, Texas where a guy stalked a woman, broke into her house and was arrested when he had got drunk on all the beer in her refrigerator. His whole plan was to kidnap her and take her to Mexico and he admitted this to the cops... That's beside the point, but really does point out the tendency to focus on the insane... not necessarily the supernatural. just my opinion though.

Inter monologue of a normal young man trying to get laid. He is trying to convince the girl that it won’t change her and she will be the same girl afterwards. He is not just sure it won’t change her, instead he is HIV positive it won’t.

This song is about murder that took place at Possum Kingdom Lake, that is where the Toadies are from.
