When I was a teen, back in the 80s, I heard a snappy tune on college radio with the lyrics where the alphabet starts with z. Years later, by googling those lyrics, I learn that this great song was twist
by tones on tail.

the famous superhero was sometimes billed as the man of tomorrow

bees are hurtful creatures with their sting. Lex luthor is sometimes
represented as bald (his head is "topless") and he is sadistic. Therefore, the "topless bee" is lex luthor

superman leaped (tall buildings usually, but he could leap over someone's head, I suppose)

maybe a reference to a betting parlor or gambling casino in hob's bay (suicide slum)

therefore, twist could be a song about pop culture's best known and handsomest fantasy superhero.
