Miseria Cantare (The Beginning) Lyrics

Love your hate, your faith lost

You are now one of us

Love your hate, your faith lost

You are now one of us

Nothing from nowhere, I'm no one at all

Radiate, recognize one silent call

As we all form one dark flame......

I feel that this song is not only referring to the band, but to all the fans as well. On the Sing the Sorrow tour, this was always the first song they played. This song says, nothing from nowhere I'm no one at all, radiate recognize one silent call, as we all form one dark flame. That means, we feel we are nothing, but then we hear something that we've never heard before or a lot anyway, in this case, AFI. Then we react and follow that sound, then everyone forms together, we're all brought together by this sound, so we all form one dark flame, or one big group. Love your hate, your faith lost means for all the persecution you take to stick up for this sound, love it. Love that your defending it, love the hate you get. I love every song by AFI ever. They are incredible. Through our bleeding, we are one. Oh, and no interpretation is right or wrong. Davey always got dissappointed as a kid when he thought he got the meaning of a song, but then it turned out to mean something completely different. So, he left the meaning up to everyone. We can interpret it however we choose, and that's amazing. It saves us from dissapointment!!

This song doesn't have a meaning, per se. It has an effect. That's what matters. The *effect*.

That's why it's "nothing from nowhere."

Oddly enough, instead of saying "as we all fight one dark flame", the song uses the past tense. Is the fight done? The dark flame was to bring YOU into the fold. You are NOW one of us, the dark flame is over, now that we have you.

That isn't the meaning of the song, mind you, since that would contradict my first sentence.

The #1 rated interpretation speaks to me most.

One interpretation here mentions the song was the beginning of the live performances for the tour. Not only was it the beginning of their tour but the beginning of the album itself. And, also, it's literally called the beginning. That 'can't be discounted.

The beginning of everything in OUR REAL UNIVERSE is a paradox, just like the meaning of this song. How can something like the universe come to exist, from which we never had anything before? Not even a creator?

"Nothing from nowhere, and no one at all"

So what did we do when we looked at that paradox and we couldn't figure a way to understand it? We banded together. We got through the paradox together, making the impossible possible.

We all contributed to this world. Somehow we don't understand yet, we are all part of one dark world that, despite the faithless darkness, brought us some amazing light. You can feel the light of countless fans who cheered this song as the opener to EVERY show AFI played on that tour.

That togetherness is the light. The duality of darkness and light is mentioned in "Love your hate"

Let's do what Davey asks. Let's "ready and recognize as we all fight one dark flame" let's bring the light of togetherness into this paradox that SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING AT ALL.

I think this song is about becoming one with your own emotions.

    Love your hate.
    Your faith lost
you are now one of us.

nothing from nowhere, I'm no one at all. Radiate recognize one silent call as we all form one dark flame.

This song has so much meaning to me; as does this album.

This is the first cd that I could connect with emotionally.

Miseria Cantare may be about the end of the world, when nothing means everything and everything means nothing:

"Nothing from nowhere, I'm nothing at all."

Do everything with a passion- love your hate. In the end, nothing will matter- your faith lost.

"You are now one of us." may be directed to everyone who thinks they wre better than of "us" or Davey, etc. Saying you have become what you never wanted, it doesn't matter.

"Radiate, recognize one silent call as we all form one dark flame" meaning we will have to work together to survive OR we will all become one.

This is an agressive song, amazing opener. Sing the Sorrow was to be a story, told through birth, life, pain and death. Miseria cantare being the death of a loved one, along with The leaving song, pt. 2. The breathing at the beginning of Bleed black may signify a birth. from then on may be about the main 'one'. I'm not too sure about this though.... Sing the Sorrow has a big meaning to me. LOVE YOUR HATE; YOUR FAITH LOST. YOU ARE NOW ONE OF US.

I have to agree with a couple of people on here. It's about how society wants you to be and how you "shold" be but you don't want to be "one of them" you want to be who YOU want to be. and in a way with what you're surroundings are and what you're raised up to be you kind of obliged to be what they want you to be. So you're sucked in to be one of them.
and yeah miseris cantare is latin for sing the sorrow...but in spanish it means misery will sing. So yeah...all in all that means the same thing.

Sts starts at track 3 and ends with track 2. The album is about davey dying and not being able to reincarnate this time since he's a "rabbit". Miseria cantare, to me, is davey falling into the afterlife, forming one dark flame with the other souls. Or he is not accepted into heaven or hell and just sits in purgatory, which would explain "nothing from nowhere, I'm noone at all".

I know miseria cantare is latin for sing the sorrow. The song is exactly one hundred words long. Other than that.. I don't know.

I think that bigpoogenerator has a point and his explanation is really really smart but I don't know why I feel that this song is more about everything that Davey has in his mind. Havok is a really fucking smart(kinda weird but freaking smart)guy and his trying to teach everybody that hears the cd that is depressed and in misery that they should stop listening to everybody saying what is wrong or what is right, so when he sings LOVE your hate, your faith lost is saying that if you hate(society or better Christianity says that you have to love everybody) then it is okay,,,you are that way and if you don't have faith in god or whatever that is okay you are like that,,,,and when you believe that nobody can tell you what to do because you have faith in your own beliefs You become one of them,,(them refers to havok and everybody else that follows him or think that way)...That is why when he sings the other part of the song he says that we are nothing,,and we all form one dark flame(you understand the metaphor),,,Incinateeee,,, you should understand that part...AFI RULES,,yeah

Well in order to fully understand this interpretation you have to listen to the album backwards. Not the songs themselves, but the song order itself, thus making Miseria Cantare (The Beginning), the last song on the cd, This time imperfect, the first song on the cd, and it also puts the leaving song before the leaving song part 2. this album starts with this time imperfect, where he describes the album to us, "there are no flowers, no not this time..." singing about how this album isn't going to have any beauty, just "...these dark words I find." he's too weak to smile and all he thinks about is this sorrow he feels. Miseria Cantare (The Beginning), is then the last song on the album. Davey Havok knows that he's nothing more than one of us, that he's just our voice. he's always known that even on his earlier albums. In this song he talks about how he's become one of us. We love our hate and have no faith, and he has now become one of us. Life has got to him and no more is he angry and trying to change it, but he's depressed and realizes that there may not be any hope for everyone. The last line, "YOU ARE NOW, ONE, ONE OF US!!!" He's finally become part of the shittiness of society. he fought it for as long as he could but we finally sucked him in.
