Breathe (2 AM) Lyrics

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?,
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to...

I think the previous interpretation is right except his quote that made him wonder. I think she is referring to the media and how they take anything and transform it into what they want.

I think it means you can't turn back time and everything happens for a perfectly good reason and you have to let it happen

I agree with the previous interpretations somewhat, except for the first verse. For some reason I thought that she and her friend were walking through the doors of a women's health or abortion clinic. The "mistake" could be an unwanted pregnancy or just that this girl had sex with someone she now regrets and is now getting checked out. "You're all here for the very same reason" - these people are caught in their own hypocrisy and self-hatred.

In my mind it is a pretty simple song, This isn't an exact interpretation, but after many, many Shakespeare classes I believe I am entitled to have a go at it.

In the parts where she is NOT talking about the tracks and the cables. She is basically saying that people have no room to judge people. Such as the first verse. I believe that the girl was going to get married and was like I just don't love him anymore. OR that she is getting married and cheated on her fiance, and everyone knew and looked at her with "accusing" eyes, but saying she doesn't love the guy she cheated with.

    As for the verse

"'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
    And breathe... just breathe"

My understanding of this is that she is saying is that you can't turn a train around as soon as you notice you are going the wrong way it's not like a car. And you can't turn back time if an hourglass is glued to a table, once time runs out it runs out. And if you can't find the rewind button is there anyway you can rewind it back and watch it over, saying that you can't turn back time what is done is done. SO....with all that said, just cradle your head in your hands and just take a big deep breathe and everything will work its' way out. Cause you can work at things to make them better, if a train is going the wrong direction it will eventually get turned around. If you glue an hourglass to a table it just takes more time to turn the table over and do it like that.

If this helps great, for the person with the school project, good luck!

This song is about how things happen for a reason, and you can't turn back time to change it. You just have to deal with it step by step and "Breathe, Just Breathe". She gives an example of a time that you wish you could just redo, but it isn't possible, and you just have to handle it anyway that you can. There is no easy way out of life, so don't try to find it.
