   I agree 100 % with the above interpretation it is 1 person giving all they have because they are so in love with the other person, wishing it would someday be reciprocated......for now she lives a lie and lonely....all you need is love. Waiting....

   Anybody who has ever been in a "romantic" relationship with someone who is deeply narcissistic will feel this song's every word. The coldness of a partner to take all of love and care from another while giving nothing in return(no reassurance, warmth, dignity, and especially no intimacy) is an extremely cold and lonely place to be in! If you find yourself resonating with this song on a deep level, it may be time to reevaluate your relationship and make sure that you are loving yourself as much as you are trying to be loved by this other person.    I think the meaning of this song is about a toxic relationship where there are two people, one person giving more than the other. The person giving gets "coldness" in return. So the person tries to give more in hopes that it will make the other person love them more. It doesn't work, both persons in the relationship try to drown their sorrows in sex, mistaken it for passion when they are merely acting out frustrations in the process. The giving person is scared to let go in fear of being lonely, so he/she settles with the "coldness" in the relationship. They just gave up and settled, accepting whatever scraps of "love" comes their way. Its sad really.
