To me it sounds like the chorus of this song indicates mixed emotions towards someone. When delong sings "don't waste your time on me, you're already a voice inside my head" it's as if he's telling someone that it's too late, they're nothing more to him than a memory. Then hoppus follows with "I miss you...", as if contradicting the previous statement. It's like this person has been hurt badly by the one he loves, and wants to them to leave, but all that he can think about is how much he loves them. Other phrases in the song seem to indicate this as well: "the angel from my nightmare" (unless you interpret this as a direct reference to the nightmare before christmas). The "nightmare" mentioned is a pre-conceived situation this person has been fearing (ie: his loved one cheating on him, or maybe breaking up with him). And the "angel" obviously, is his loved one. The verses of the song sound mostly like symbolic reminiscings of an unrequitted lover. In anycase, that's just how I interpret the song.

Last time I checked, the only line having anything to do with Nightmare Before Christmas was "We can live like Jack and Sally if we want" and Travis said that that line was for him and Shana in the CD booklet. The title pretty much explains it, it's about missing someone.

Yes indeedy, there is parts of the song that relate to The Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton along with parts of the video. The lines 'And we can live like jack and sally if we want, Where you can always find me and we'll have Halloween on Christmas.' are based around the movie and the video for I Miss You just has the same vibe as the movie(TNBC).
Anyway, I think this song is about Tom's missing of his family (One of the factors in the breaking up of this band.... Tom wanted a break... Mark never cared... Read Kerrang! cause I can't be bothered going over the break up... its just depressing!). This was just one of the many songs on the self titled album that Tom wrote about this and if you listen to the ending few minutes of Violence there's a big ass message to Toms wife. I really strayed from the point didn't i? So... I Miss You = Directed at Toms wife.
**** In the video there's a scene where two lesbians kiss... Why do I just know Tom was standing behind the camera crews etc and nodding in approval? ****
Thank you, that is all... Good night.

Right interpretation about Mark's grandpa writing those letter to his gran during the war but wrong song, those were actually the inspiration to the spoken part at the end of 'Violence' its really sweet n thoughtful but the best song on 'Blink 182' has to be 'Heres Your Letter' amazing lyrics guys sucks you had 2 split xx.

The words at the end of "violence" were words marks grandfather wrote to his wife during world war 2 I think. (says it in the booklet)...but it actually has to do with the song "stockholm syndrome" because the whole paranoia stuff.

Forget about who was the song dedicated to.. TOM.. TRAVIS wutever... The thing is that the song must be dedicated to a special person that they miss and that their voice is unforgetable maybe the part of the Nightmare Before Christmas has to do with the song they are just giving out an example of a happy couple. The part where they say "I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight.. I need somebody and always". I think that part is so sweet and true. We've all had these days where it may be 2:30 in the morning and you just can't sleep neither dream because you are still thinking of that person and you start thinking how much you need someone by your side to be with you and to care and love you.

The Jack and Sally line is referring to Travis and his wife for sure...Either way this is a really good song and sums up how you feel when you miss someone at wierd hours in the worst ways and you feel really depressed about...whether you screwed up or your just fighting this song really touches on missing someone...I personally think this song is about fixing a stpid fight and being away from that person...like on tour...and not being able to see them and fix the problem but they miss them more than they could explain in words. This song hit me the hardest late at nights when I had gotten out of a long reltaionship and couldnt sleep...Blink 182 has always had kick ass songs though I'm going to miss the old them in the worst ways haha.

The song also says stuff like "to hear your voice of treason" which could mean that the girl cheated on him and he is pissed off at that but still wants her back

I think this is a song about a a guy who is going out with a girl who is cheating on him. She broke up with him to be with another guy. He realizes how bad she is for him but that doesn't matter. When he says "dont waste your time on me your all ready the voice inside my head" I think he's talking about how the thought of her is haunting him, but she doesn't care. He wants her back and she doesn't want him.

This song may just be obvious by its song title. He misses someone dearly. And they shouldn't waste time on him since their voice is inside their head 24/7.

All those interpretations sound good but I think it's about a friendship (or maybe relationship) that used to be really tight, and nothing bad really happened, but they kinda grew apart and the narrator of the song misses his/her friendship being the way it USED to be. and every time they see each other it's painful because things aren't the way they once were.

It is about missing someone...but not just any one.To me,personally,it's about missing your true love that you may have lost in some way such as a breakup forced apon by others. This has happened to me my sophomore year in school at Premont, Tx.And if that true love of mine so happens to read this ....I still love you and I MISS YOU.

This song I think is about the guy loving someone and they did something to make him mad/upset. "Where are you and I'm so sorry" means he is sorry that he had to leave her but showing he still cares. When he sings and compares the spiders eating the other bugs insides like the indecision to call them meaning he is torn between forgiveness or to not forgive. "Come home and stop this pain tonight" Means he feels like she should be back but when he says "Dont waste your time on me you're already a voice inside my head" shows that he decides he doesn't want her back, and now all of it is just a memory. And when it repeats "I miss you" is going back to his original decision of forgiving. The song is basically him fighting himself to either forgive or leave someone he loved so much that hurt him.

Jack and Sally are the main two characters in "The Nightmare Before Christmas". The Halloween on Christmas refers to the movie. Also, it it used to demonstrate horror on what is supposed to be a happy day. I think it is about somebody who messed up a relationship and is thinking about it at night, thinking of how much they love the other. The angel from the nightmare is the person they love, and it's a only good thing they had left, but horrible that got messed up.

Huh? whats this death and stuff?
all the discription is about the relantionship between he and his girlfriend. Its ending or close to ending and thier growing farther and farther apart.
the guy is totally falling for her but she's hesitant but they both know the relationship just won't work (I think)...
anywho..i love singing it...

Lets add a new dimension to this song. I think this song is about an abnormal person. He is in paranoia until he hears the voice of his ownself in his mind. This guy actually misses his own old self. He says don't waste his schizophrenic self on talking to him coz that voice is already something that exists in his own head. Try reading the lyrics now once more, it will make sense.
