To the idiot before me. Have you read the lyrics? this song is simply about kids screwing around. "Everybody would waste it all, to have a summer that they could call, memory that's full of fun..." Clearly about kids messing around having some fun.

"to the idiot before me" before you call someone an idiot, maybe you should.. well.. THINK a little. Did it ever occur to you he/she might of been referring to "Stay Together For The Kids" and accidentally posted for this song? After all the songs are both on the same album and perhaps he/she was confused or in a hurry and thought that the song about divorce had "abandon" in the title. It was a a simple mistake. Whose the idiot now?

There is more than one way to interpret this song, I don't think it was intended to just be about kids screwing around. First of all in the song there is a rustic old record noise to the beginning of the song making me feel as if they were looking back to the life of someone they knew "He". I think what they are trying to say is that it may seem fun at the time to do these things but when you get older you won't even remember most of what you did. All the stupid things they did go by in a flash making me think of "nothing to hold on to"(slowed down compared to the rest of the song). Everyone does want to have this awesome summer that they fell they will never forget but all the dumb things that were done don't feel like accomplishments later in life, Which is the "Bad News". "We'll use this song to lead you on" to tell you the truth even if you don't wanna hear it "This is gonna shock them". the "He" could referrer to a father or a friend that is no longer close but was close at one point, which could leave a "scar size extra large". Other notes. This song kinda reminds me of having the same mentality of The Party song, which is making fun of the frat house party scene. I don't know why but I had this idea that Blink was a party going type of band, but instead they are making fun of the party scene in a song. I always thought they would be the "terrible ska band" referred to in the Party song cept not terrible cause Blink 182 rocks (if that makes sense.)
