Come A Little Closer Lyrics

Time shakes, found you at the water
At first you were my father, now I love you like a brother
Earthquakes shake the dust behind you
This world at times will blind you
Still I know I'll see you there

Come a little closer, then you'll...

    Time is an illusion

Water represents The Spirit (When the bible talks about us needing to be baptised, its talking about being touched by The Spirit and when it says we need to be born from water and the Spirit, this is the water in the womb that every human is born from. A little off topic, but this truth needs to finally get out.)

    Father = YHWH
    Brother = Jesus Christ

This World/Whirled, Satan is prince of, the father of all lies (including "enlightenment")

earthquakes are some of the begining of birth pains (of the ending of the current earth age)

Matthew 10:14 "And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town."

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Well, this is my interpretation right now, it could change. I belive that it is pretty close to what the song is about.

Time shakes found you at the water
At first you were my father, now I love you like a brother
Earthquakes shake the dust behind you
This world at times will blind you
Still I know I'll see you there

I believe the verse is talking about when he was younger, he found God "father" when he was baptized "water". He has grown to love God like a brother. The worldly things at times will tempt "blind" you, but he knows he will see God at heaen's gate.

Come a little closer, then you'll see
Come on, come on, come on
Things aren't always what they seem to be
Come on, come on, come on
Do you understand the things you been seein'
Come on, come on, come on
Do you understand the things that you've been dreaming
Come a little closer, then you'll see

I believe the second verse is God talking to him, telling him to get closer to God, because things aren't always as they seem to be, and God will help him to understand the things he has been experiencing "seein'" God wants him to understand his thoughts "dreaming", and to get closer to God, and God will help you understand things "then you'll see"

Heartbreaks, the heavy world's upon your shoulders
Will we burn or we just smolder
Somehow I know I'll find you there
Ooh, I wanna see if you can change it, change it
Still I know I'll see you

The third verse is God talking to him, saying he knows that he has a lot of problems, and that he is sad "heartbreaks", and will he choose to deal with his problems lightly "smolder" or will he be totally consumed by them "burn". God wants to see if he will change his ways and get closer to God , and God is telling him he knows he will see him at heaven's gate.

Ten thousand people stand alone now
And in the evening the sun sets,
    Tomorrow it will rise
Time flies by, they all sing along
Time flies by, they all sing along
Time flies by, they all sing along
    Time flies by, by

    Chorus:
Come a little closer then you'll see
Come on, come on, come on
Come a little closer then you'll see
Come a little closer then you'll see
Come a little closer then you'll see

The last verse and the chorus, I believe are saying that a lot of people feel alone in whatever problems they are having, but the sun always sets, and it always rises each day. Time flies by and people need to get close to God, and God will show you the way. OR another thing the last verse and chorus may be saying is that ten thousand people have gotten close to God, and with each passing day they are telling us that the sun always rises and sets each day, and that life is short "time flies by" and we need to get closer to God so he will show us the way and we will see God at Heaven's gate.
