    Yeah she pertains Beautiful People to the one she loves, given she suffers loving them, still continue to love despite pains and heartbreak.
    Hurt is hiding behind these words and lyrics. This is one of my favorite songs of Cher. It's underrated but you'll feel the lyrics makes you want to grab your pillow close your eyes savor the song.

    legit interpret this as 'beautiful people' being the people who are all perfect and get everything they want, everyone thinks the world of them but she's saying they're not all they seem and they can be cruel and nasty, and she's finally standing up to it. lol

    She is in love with him and he knows and he thinks he can play with her heart and he thinks it's okay but she still loves him even though he hurts her.

    I think the song is about her being hurt by someone and they know she's hurting but they still continue to do it. She finally has enough hence the lyric 'it's my last big breath what you want me to do' and they know they've hurt her 'when you act all cool like you already knew.' It's possibly about a breakup or a close friendship.

    She's in a relationship that's falling apart. She knows that the guy will eventually leave her, but she's already fallen for him. He knows she knows, but he doesn't care. She doesn't want him to leave, but she can't tell him because then he will leave. The more he acts like he doesn't care. The more she hurts and feels empty inside......and he knows that.
