Fix You Lyrics

Coldplay
Fix You

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose...

Unlike "white shadows"song, where there is a touch of magic in the relationship and the match is everything you ever wanted in a partner...this song is with a partner who is your doctor..they may only be right for you for part of your journey in life when you need someone solid and safe to lean on to recover maybe from the loss of a magical partner. Once back on your feet and grounded you realise that something is missing and you tun to song little white shadows when you discover another magical partner or you start looking for the white shadows. Lights will guide you home is with the magical partner and the partner who fixes you is there to help you reach everything you ever wanted.

As with many of CP's songs, if you are a Christian, you cannot help but see the light of Christ as the ultimate fixer for humanity's pain.

I like the preferred interpretation and believe that it is probably the most accurate, though I haven't had a chance to check out which mag. That explanation appeared in. It hit home with me in another way though:

My girlfriend/best friend of 3.5 years and I just parted ways. We met towards the end of college and things have been virtually perfect between us since.

I was driving home after we talked recently and she decided she needed time/space to figure out what she wanted and where to go from here when this song came on. I hadn't ever heard it before and happened to be in the middle of bawling my eyes out. At that point, I literally had to pull over because I couldn't see the road or continue driving.

I just hope and pray that she comes around. I know what I want and what I need... It's her. That's all. Just her.

I heard this song and it reminded me of everything that had happened to me it funny how in the song it says "how much your worth?" and i tried to fix it and i did and now we are happy together. She is the love of my life.

This song is about a savior. It is about that one person who is there for you when you let yourself down, when others let you down, and when you've lost something unimaginably important. In any time when you loose yourself in hysteric heartbreak, this person is there for you. To try and fix you. This person is singing this song to you. Try imagining them singing it. I bet you'll cry. Regardless of who it was written for, this song is about being and having a person who is there to dry your tears and tell you everything will be ok.

I think the song is meant for anyone who has gone through a difficult break up and feels like all the effort they put into loving and caring for that special someone went to waste, BUT there is always hope. We must always be looking ahead and realize that a break up is a break up and that theres no going back

Two nights ago I was at the hospital all night with my boyfriend. I was seven and a half weeks pregnant. As the doctor came in and told me I'd miscarried our baby, the lyrics [ and the tears come streaming down your face
when you lose something you cant replace
when you love someone & it goes to waste ] just ran through my head as I zoned out of what the doctor was saying. This song can fit many situations. It particularly fit what I'm going through now as I grieve the child I should've been having. The part "when you lose something you cant replace," is the line that fits best. It's a great song, though.

I really like this song. I feel a connection with every word of it.
The way I connect it to myself is, This girl who gets to know this guy as friends, after a few months of getting to know him she starts developing deep feelings for him and thinks he is as well for her. But! little did she know, he was still in a relationship when he had told her he wasnt anymore. Things just get complicated and he decides to give up on it all to save his relationship maybe because he realized all he ever wanted was in his girlfriend and he made a mistake. This is where the song plays part on the girl he was getting to know.
After he messed up so bad she still sees the best in him. She realizes she is far in too deep. She is in love, how could it be? it was only 5 months... She can't deny it anymore, its so real it hurts and it feels so good all at the same time. When he told her he was going back to his girlfriend and she was just a mistake, she feels happy to know he got it together in his head and heart but at the same time feels so hurt because she knows it can never be. Its hard when you love someone and it all goes to waste, specially when there wasnt even a start, middle or ending. Now she is trying to pick herself back up, because if she doesn't let him go she will never know how much she is really worth. She feels she just lost something she is afraid she may not replace... not so much for him but the beautiful amazing feeling she feels for him, the feeling of love, hoping however this is false. Tears streams down her face, because it is the only way to let out that love she has bottled up. She promises she will learn from her mistakes, to be careful next time around. promising she will be ok and will get through this. Shes screaming out to him in the inside....lights will guide him home, ignite his bones, and I will fix him. ... meaning... He will never do it to any other girl because he believes she was such a huge mistake... She did fix him.

-You will never know this is me, you might never even read this. But I did fall in love with you. You say it was all fake... How could it be when it all felt so real. as for me (wrong timing but not at all fake. I hope you are happy where ever life takes you.

It's been really nice to read other's interpretations. Ten days ago my dad committed suicide and it's been the worst ten days of my life. I heard this song on the radio for the first time in a few years today and immediately started crying. The lyrics fit what I am feeling right now so much that it is almost uncanny. Anyway, just wanted to say that I will never again be able to listen to this song without thinking of my dad, and that's a good thing.

I'm a schizophrenic and I think this song is about schizophrenia because I listen to it over and over again. I never really listened to the words from the time I was becoming mentally ill. Then I realized that when I wasn't very good at life, I wondered why I listened to this song so many times. I took time to listen to every word and it matched my life completely. WILD!

I personally find that Coldplay's lyrics are all beautiful and they have a really special quality in the fact that people can relate to them and they can help people through hard times. I think this song can mean something different to each individual.

For me I find this song comforting as someone close to me was diagnosed with alzheimers. The line "tears stream down your face when you lose something you cannot replace" is how I feel about someone I love falling apart.

I beleive this song is about when your're car gets towed, the engine has died, you can't get the engine to work, etc. I'm serious!

When you try your best but you dont's succeed
(You can't get your car fixed)
When you get what you want, but not what you need
(Wife brings you a glass of water but you want the car fixed)
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
(You may never drive in your '67 Mustang again)
    Stuck in reverse
    (Like a car)

And the tears come streaming down your face
    (Sad about Mustang)
When you lose something you can't replace
('67 Mustang is hard to replace)
When you love someone but it goes to waste
    (Loving the car)
    Could it be worse?
(It could but you love the car)

    Lights will guide you home,
    (As in head lights)
    And ignite your bones,
    (To ignite the engine)
And I will try to fix you,
(Owner tries to fix car but he is not a mechanic)

High up above or down below
(Possibly the cost of fixing the car is "high up above" or the price of fixing it is "down below")
When you're too in love to let it go
(You're in love with the car)
But if you never try you'll never know
(If you don't try to fix it then you'll never know if you can)
    Just what you're worth
(Just what the car is worth)

    Lights will guide you home
    (As in head lights)
    And ignite your bones
    (To ignite the engine)
And I will try to fix you
(Owner tries to fix car but he is not a mechanic)

    Tears stream down your face
    (Owner crying about car)
When you lose something you cannot replace
    (Hard to replace '67 Mustang)
Tears stream down on your face
    (Owner crying about car)
    And I
(A vow to fix the car)

    Tears stream down your face
    (Owner crying about car)
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Learn to not kill the engine so much!)
Tears stream down on your face
    (Owner crying about car)
    And I
(A vow to fix the car)

    Lights will guide you home
    (As in head lights)
    And ignite your bones
    (To ignite the engine)
And I will try to fix you
(Owner tries to fix car but he is not a mechanic)

    Lights will guide you home

I have a 2 1/2 year old son who was recently diagnosed with autism. Although I had my suspicions for some time, when I heard the actual diagnosis, well needless to say, I went through a variety of emotions: sadness, fear, resent, and especially anger.

I sometimes felt I had no one to turn to, while I was pushing others away. And I was especially struggling with the idea of turning my back on God.

Until one day I was driving home from work thinking about my son with tears rolling down my face, and Fix You came on the radio. Coldplay is one of my favourite bands, but I never really paid much attention to their lyrics. I'm quite sure the song is about something or someone else, but it's funny how the appropriate song comes on the radio when you are feeling down.

Listening to that song at that moment, I felt it was God Himself telling me he would fix me, so I could in turn fix my son. I believe God and I made peace with each other at that moment. But hey....that's my story!!
