This song is an ode to fiction. The first verse is talking about actual fact, such as the world "[spinning] round on an axis at twenty-three degrees" but the second verse, asking the listener about certain stories and if they are familiar with them. The song goes on to say that "we [could] all learn things..." from fictitious stories. The message is basically "Whilst fact are useful, honour fiction and have an imagination" That is the meaning of "The Moss"
