Depeche Mode: Blue Dress Meaning
Blue Dress Lyrics
And don't say a word
Put it on
The one that I prefer
Put it on
And stand before my eyes
Put it on
Please don't question why
Can you believe
Something so simple
Something so trivial
Makes me a happy man
Can't you...
-
As someone who's been hurt... I think this song is simple. It's a man's lone for lingerie like every other man. He's saying that when it turns him on, she'll understand why men are the way they are and how their sex drive influences relationships, which influences human kind. I also feel like I'm a way he's saying, put the damn dress and turn me on, it's your job, don't be so vanilla. That's the pessimist in me.

About being visually turned on by a certain something. "I don't need to touch" and "stand before my eyes" show it's all about the particular look that makes Martin Gore 'happy'!
There is no mention of the colour of the dress in the lyrics, so bearing in mind Martin "can feel so much" when he sees the dress, it could be blue in a raunchy sense!
