What does Hello mean?

Evanescence: Hello Meaning

Album cover for Hello album cover

Hello Lyrics

Playground school bell rings, again
Rain clouds come to play, again

Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to... Hello

If I smile and don't believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this...

Amy's sister, bonnie, died at the age of 3 when amy was 6, and... Well, that is kind of all I know. I also know they have never performed this song live.

When I first heard the song I knew nothing about bonnie, so I thought it had a different meaning: she's talking to a guy (what a surprise)

"has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello I am your mind giving you someone to talk to"

`she's not breathing´ does not mean she's dead, but gone, and amy is telling the guy to get over the girl and to talk to her (to amy). Because he's so lost in his pain to see she's still there for him; too occupied pretending is all a dream to note amy is the one who loves him.

"hello I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
    don't cry"

amy gives up trying to gain his love and conforms with just being his friend.

    "hello I'm still here
    all that's left of yesterday"

i'll never leave, I'll be your only friend forever. You don't know me but I'll alway be watching your back. Because I love you. And I'll never let you go...

This song is about how Amy's little sister died when she was younger. "has no one told you she's not breathing".

When she says "hello I'm your mind
giving you someone to talk to" I think its her feeling really alone.

"if I smile and don't believe soon I know I'll wake from this dream" she's hoping its not real.
"hello I'm the lie living for you so you can hide" - this could be the lie that its not real so she can hide away from the truth.

Her sister died, when Amy was six, but I just have a question, how'd her sister die?

I think this is about her sister who died a long time ago and she feels really sad about her sister being gone so she put it in a song. :)

wow this is a beautiful song. It is about amy's 3 year old sister, bonnie dying. Amy lee was 6 at the time, and the opening line about the school and playground is because amy found out that she died at school out on the playground. Amy was mortified. She wrote this song trying to send an important message, which is kind of hidden. Sheis trying to say that if something hoorible happens in your life, you should try to 'wake up' from it, it happened already so it is true. This song has a lot of meaning. I don't want to be too full of myself but I am 99% positive that this 'interoetation' is correct. good day/night/morning/afternoon -- what everone fits best!
    see ya!

Amy wrote this song about how she felt confused, numb, and alone after her sister died when she was a young girl. She felt depressed and a great loss, like a part of her was missing.

I could be wrong but I think the schizophrenic song is "haunted" because she's talking about someone unknown in her mind and soul...
but Hello is about her sister passing away at a young age

"play ground school bell rings again"
is the memories of her little sister being in school

"soon I know ill wake from this dream"
means that Amy is trying to pretend that it didn't happen, she's just trying to act as if it is a dream.

The song is about Amy's sister, but anyone that has lost someone really close to them, can relate to it a lot.

It's actually about her little sister dying when Amy was three. Her sisters name was Bonnie Lee, and she wrote that song for her.

"If I smile and don't believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream"

She doesn't want to believe it, so she says it didn't happen but she knows it did.

Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken

those lines are so haunting, and it could mean anything. I think it means someone she loved has left or died, and everyone thinks she's heart broken, when actually she just wants to cope herself

    Hello, I'm still here

People are talking about her but not noticing she can hear everyword, like when you wlak into a room and suddenley everyone goes quiet

I think 'Hello' is about a blind girl. No where in the song did I come to a conclusion that someone was really dying besides the breathing part. The part Suddenly

    I know I'm not sleeping
    Hello I'm still here

She sleeps but she can't see anything in real life if that makes sense.

Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken
Hello I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
    Don't cry

she's still a normal person, there is nothing wrong besides the fact that she is blind. She doesn't want to be felt sorry for because she believes she's a normal person.
