This song was NOT about Kurt Cobain..I truly thought that it was, but then I started looking into it, and it's about R. Budd Dwyer who was the treasurer for the state of Pennsylvania. He committed suicide in front of a huge audience...To me, you could still think of it as Kurt's death, which I do, but in truth it's not.

Ok, this song is about about the Pennsylvania Treasurer.

"*This song was written long-before Kurt Cobain's suicide for all you you conspiracy theorists, although it is about suicide. Richard says the song is based on the 1987 suicide of Pennsylvania State Treasurer R. Bud Dwyer who shot himself during a television press conference."

Copied strait from their website...http://filter.seven10.com/shortbus.html

Personally, I think this song is about anyone who has an opinion different than everyone else and they constantly get accused of being wrong. The person tries his best shot to explain to the world (who sees only wrong) what is truly right.

Out of frustration, the person being accused retaliates with violence. Because we all know that violence is a perk of humanity.

Eventually, the person trying to stand up for what is right will give in and will believe everything is wrong as well (If you can't beat em, join em). In the end, we wish we could've met this person before he conformed with the rest of the world. We would tell him nice try.

ArKonIte has a wonderful metaphor for hey man nice shot, and you should really think about that. But yeah even the lead singer admitted on DC 101 before playing at ramshead live that that song was about BUD. nice try. but I love your metaphor...

This song is,as has been established by other contributors, about the former Pennsylvania treasurer. I am fairly certain you can actually see the suicide on Faces of Death, and probably many other sources. I saw it, and recently a radio station was discussing this after playing the song (Tampa area), and someone called in verifying that a family member was there in the press conference audience. I certainly see where it could be confused as being about many other occurrences, including Cobain's suicide. As for any accusations by Courtney Love about its inspiration, why not ask Richard Patrick himself. I visited Cleveland one time to see the Hall of Fame, and was given a map to the house in Bay Village where they recorded this.Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long enough to drive over there.

the song is about the drug wars of the late 80s and early 90s. there was a narcotic undercover trying to bust a fellow musician. (filter) anyway a truck driver noticed the nark was going to ruin filter by entrapment and selling him a little pot. the trucker shot the nark while driving by at around 30 mph and 50 yards away. It was truly an incredible shot. At first mr filter didnt understand then another guy showed up that seen the whole thing. it was filters freind whom the cop was trying to impersonate. anyway after the smoke was gone , and they realized the injured man was indeed a cop. they said hey man that was a nice shot. Of course this info couldnt be released or the truck driver could be arested. Someone has to protect the good guys . Had filter been a regular street mean person the driver wouldnt have shot.
