   I think it about how he had to leave his wife to go though the poppy's death on her own because of his commitments to his new ablum and x factor. 'To have but never hold' can have 2 meanings: to have his daughter but not hold her or to have his wife but not be their for her(though it definitely about a woman)! The song is very vague about this but I think that's so we think its something its not!

   I honestly believe this song is for his wife. He's busy, famous, she never sees him. It's for her...permission to move on and be happy...possibly with someone else. Quickly, disguised perhaps with his exit from xfactor (next season)....can't believe no one else has picked up on it...maybe I'm wrong..,
