Clint Eastwood Lyrics

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
It's coming...

I believe this to be a very spiritual song and how current societies are doing nothing but detaching us from who we really are through judgements which creates fear. Finding your inner self is the first step to spiritual enlightment and the first step to change the way the corrupt world is - one person at a time....hear me out...

"Finally someone let me out of my cage
Now, time for me is nothing because I'm counting no age
    Now I couldn't be there
    Now you shouldn't be scared
    I'm good at repairs
    And I'm under each snare
    Intangible "
-This is a clear reference to a spiritual guide(counting no age, time is nothing in the spiritual world). This guide is an intangible being, so he cannot be here but is good at repairs (AKA mental and physical healing) Listening to your inner self through meditation is a great way to let your spiritual guide "out of the cage"

"Who you think is really kickin' tunes?
Picture you gettin' down in a picture tube
    Like you lit the fuse"
    - Television(picture tube), controlling us by making us want to be like the people on TV, (pop culture), yet we still believe we have complete free will (who do you think is really kickin tunes)
    "You think it's fictional
    Mystical? Maybe
    Spiritual
    Hearable
What appears in you is a clearer view because you're too crazy
    Lifeless
To know the definition for what life is
    Priceless"
-This control detaches people from themselves and into a FICTIONAL world, when really, we are the real thing(fear mongering- terrorism is everywhere!! right?). The outcome is a clear view of how crazy and lifeless we are yet we all think the we know the definition for what life is. This new found spirituality maybe mystical but spiritual is hearable.(listen to your guide- a spiritual awakening is probobly what this person is experiencing)
    "The essence the basics
    Without it you make it"
-You are a co-creator of reality, through your thoughts- if you don't have it you make it.
"You have it or you don't that's a fallacy
    I'm in them
    Every sprouting tree
    Every child apiece
    Every cloud you see"
-To think you have it or don't is a complete fallacy, because, as a co-creator of reality, you have everything you ever need in the HERE and the NOW. Everything is ONE(there is no separate between anything in the universe, only the illusion of separateness)- in every sprouting tree, child apiece, and every cloud you see. You and the guide are an integral part of everything you see and experience. This goes for every being on the planet.
"Through Russ, though not his muscles but the percussion he provides
    with me as a guide
But y'all can see me now because you don't see with your eye
    You perceive with your mind
    That's the inner"
-Destruction, demise, corruption in disguise- the power that are in place who are constantly fear mongering and telling us how to live. Now through russ's (russ symbolizes anyone in a spiritual awakening) "percussion" (thoughts), and not his muscles...with him as a guide...humanity will begin to see how things really are and stop seeing with their eyes, and start perceiving with their mind(brain)..."thats the inner"- your inner spiritual guide helping with your spiritual awakening
    "Remember where the thought is
    I brought all this
So you can survive when law is lawless
Feelings, sensations that you thought were dead
    No squealing, remember
(that it's all in your head)"
    -Remember where your thoughts are-
"I brought all this", you are creating the reality you want through perceptions..so you can survive when law is lawless- society is changing rapidly- many of societie's institutions that have been controlling us for so long are being critisized and will collapse in our lifetime...IE- massive organized religion, schooling systems, oppresive governments (including USAs!)... feeling sensations that you thought were dead- spiritual awakening and a paradigm shift in society will create new feelings we haven't had since children (loss of judgement- garbage man was no less than a CEO!, unconditional pure love etc)... no sqealing, remember that its all in your head....dont worry about a thing, everything you know and experience is a complete manifestation of your thinking which happens to occur in the head!

MOST IMPORTANTLY- IF YOUR STILL READING--

    "ain't happy, I'm feeling glad" -
hes not happy, but he has moments of feeling glad (temporary fixes either thru drugs, materialism, nurturing self ego)
    "I got sunshine, in a bag" -
sunshine is the reason we have life and creates life,- we all have this "sunshine" effect on the earth(co- creation of reality), within our bag (our mind or head)
"I'm useless, but not for long"-
after a spiritual awakening he is no longer going to be a useless being
"The future is coming on" -
the new way of thought is coming on--a new age.

-THIS IS A VERY SPIRITUAL SONG, WITH NEW AGE CONCEPTS- that's my interpretation and I'm stickin to it! Please though, tell me if I'm way off the cliff here...

I think that "I ain't happy - future is comin' on" definitely has to do with some kind of drugs, but to me the idea is mainly not being on top of yourself. like, lacking ambition or motive, but also looking toward your future to have some sort of drive. for the time being tho, there is none, so he is 'useless' and he 'aint happy'. kind of like when your rooms a mess and your just being lazy, but you do plan on eventually cleaning it, but right now you suck at life and your just fed up with your messy room and not being able to see your floor n shit.

When del tha funkee homosapien starts, "finally someone let me outa my cage." I think that shows that he feels he is someone who has overcome this mindset, or you could say he got off his ass and cleaned his room.

He randomly says "intangible" because I'd say he means that his message and way of thinking isn't something that is easily perceived or accomplished, but I'm not to sure of the word. "bet you didn't think so I command you to" goes without saying, but "panoramic view" is said because he thinks you should take a step back and reevaluate yourself from a different perspective. "look ill make it all manageable" is because the point of the rap is trying to help you metaphorically get into the right mindset for cleaning your room I guess, (im just sticking with that analogy because its simple and it makes sense)

The next couple of lines makes absolutely no sense to me but they are gorillaz and they are amazing and allowed to say whatever they hell they want.

The "hero who appears in you to clear you view when your too crazy" is either a way he defines himself, or something he is trying to bring out in you, like he's trying to help you help yourself.

"Lifeless, to those with definitions for what life is" I believe has to do with other people judging you and the way you live your life. I.e. a pothead that someone could just be like ew your a dumb pothead and you waste space on the earth, but that person probably doesn't even know what they're talking about and their not you so it doesn't matter.

"priceless, to you because I put you on the hype shit" I can't say I've ever heard anybody say hype shit before so I wouldnt know what it means, but I looks to me like its the course that he's trying to set you on, and its priceless to you, because it can change your life if you utilize it.

    Then some more blah moments..

"allow me to make this, childlike in nature" is saying allow me to make all of this simple, like it already is, its just difficult to see just how simple.

"with me as a guide, y'all can see me now because you don't see with your eyes, you perceive with your mind" he's referencing how he's your guide again, and what was once before considered intangible, is now tangible because your now thinking through everything he has said, and you can see him now really means you understand him and his message clearly now, and it took a panoramic view to get to that point.

"be a mentor" is another guide reference.

"bust a few rhythms so muthafuckas remember where the thought is. I brought all this so you can survive when law is lawless." more guide reference, and implying he should get his credit for his message. Then stating the purpose, which is that you can heed his message when what things are, is not what things should be. like, stuffs unfair or something.

If anyone knows the actual stroyline of Gorillaz you'd know
2d is always on pain killers because of his punched in eyes
"glad" is a term to described high. "I aint happy, I'm feeling glad" is saying he doesn't like having to take them. While 2d sings about not liking his drugged up life, Del the ghost is singing about how he was able to quit drugs and how people on drugs don't perceive anything and let there life fly past them

Sunshine in a bag is slang for LSD which is what 2-D is singing about then in the rap sections it is referring to the separation from spirituality
real world and then in its next section its referring to what LSD feels like and how it's otherworldly

The song could be talking about the “virtual” like they are a virtual band, Del is coming out like a virtual “being” which was “released”, the “future is coming on”, virtual future? The way things are virtual are very different TODAY(2023) from 2006-07, who knows how much more this will be true 10 years from now with virtual reality, brain chips and such. Finally someone let this virtual reality “being” out of the cage. He’s good at repairs (useful for certain things), intangible(can’t hold virtual), panoramic (all seeing virtual reality world), chicks and dudes (all the confusion now, who’s kicked tunes(media/social media influencing the culture/people), we’re in a picture tube(virtual screen/ social virtually) we think it’s fictional but it’s mystical and spiritual.
This spiritual virtual “world” who is now controlling our views, lifeless to those who who know REAL life, priceless to people because the virtual tells us what is hype. Whe like it right? It possesses us “with one go”. The enterprise is corrupt and Del sees it, but wet sucked into it, it’s our mentor and guide, controls the masses, decides what’s in what’s out, what’s the new way of thinking, what’s not acceptable. He brought ALL THIS song so we are aware! And not fall for the virtual crap when law is LAWLESS, feeling things that shouldn’t be. This future is coming closer and closer. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, came to Dave us and set us FREE.

Woah, lots of people wrote stuff
Not entirely sure that my opinion will change anything, but here we go.

"Clint Eastwood" is a CRAZY complicated song. It has movie references, drug references, all kinds of noises and soundtracks, and even stuff that breaks the fourth wall. Some of the lyrics have MULTIPLE MEANINGS. This song is an absolute treasure trove of meanings and layers that you can interpret for yourself, I'm just here to explain a few.

First of all, Clint Eastwood is the name of an actor, and you can hear the theme for one of the movies he was in, (the good, the bad, and the ugly) in the background of the song. Also, Clint Eastwood is one of Damon Albarn's favorite actors. Clint Eastwood was also the name of a musician from jamaica who the group heard about when recording in there.

The lines that 2-D sings throughout the whole song, (the only lines he sings, over and over,) also have many meanings. Yes, one of them is drugs. I'm not entirely sure what kind, but he has to take a lot of painkillers for the state of his eyes, so I would assume that could be it. Or maybe it's just drugs in general.

However, the line "I got sunshine in a bag" has multiple meanings. In the movie "The Good The Bad and The Ugly," Clint Eastwood calls his saddlebag full of gold his "Sunshine in a bag" so there's another Clint Eastwood reference. Also, "Sunshine in a bag" is now a euphemism for drugs, similar to the way people call MDMA "Molly."

2-D sings the same thing throughout the whole song, and does the same motions, and plays the same notes, and is almost oblivious to what's going on around him along with the rest of the band. (apart from Murdoc) This is an example that they are in fact a virtual band, it's like they're all on loop, because they aren't real.

Del, (the ghost rapper that lives inside Russel's brain) comes out and raps during this song, and says a few lyrics that gesture to the fact that this is a virtual band. They aren't real people, you can't talk with them, you can't touch them, but it's what the creators want you to believe. They want you to believe it's real because it's fun to break 4th walls and have fun with it. Del was just there to break it, and for anyone that's paying attention to his words to remember that.

Now time for music video stuff

As I briefly mentioned earlier, 3 out of 4 of the members in the band are completely oblivious to what's happening around them, except for when 2-D turns around and stops singing to see Del return to Russel's brain. Murdoc is the only one who seems to notice, running from everything that pops out of the ground, while Noodle is happily skipping along, Russel is mindlessly drumming, and 2-D is repeating his words over and over, the three of them unaware of Del or anything else that Murdoc can see. I think this might just be a reference to the zombie-like world that some people see today, with modern technology on the rise. The world is sort of... well... it's kinda falling apart. This song was released a bit before all the crazy problems started to surface, so maybe that's not correct, but anyways.

"Clint Eastwood" is a crazy complicated song. I cannot stress this enough. You can learn one interpretation and be happy with that, or you can study this song for days upon end and still find new meanings every day. Music can be like that sometimes, and everyone has their opinions, but the one thing I am sure of for this song, is that, (I'll put it in capitals, one last time everyone,)

THIS SONG IS SUPER COMPLICATED, INTERPRET IT THE WAY YOU LIKE, BECAUSE CHANCES ARE, YOU'RE RIGHT IN SOME WAY!!

Thank you for your time, I will be off.

To put it very simply, I think the lyrics are something to do with breaking out of constricting mindsets - either created by ourselves or society - which get in the way of the creative and evolving flow of thoughts which come from our inner spiritual self. When we can do this, our life can flow positively towards the future.

Its definitely much deeper then just drugs. But drugs probably helped him with his awakening. Hello people were destroying our earth, and we buy into it just like we've bought bad music before, without realizing we could have made the music ourselves. I used to be like the rest of you who simply heard it and thought "drugs". Its way better then that.
Music is the key to helping us wake up.

Stupid queers think everything is about drugs.

It's about the New World Order.

Brain washing of the media and the final financial collapse coming to America.

The founding fathers knew about the dangers of the "Banksters".

You want to wake up asshole. This song is a warning. Awake people know awake people. We got our own language because we took the red pill.

But your not full awake till you know about the Masons and the Jews.

For example: John F Kennedy fought the Zionist Lobby by forcing them to register as a foreign agent. Doing so would have prevented them from ability to make campaign contributions. This would have crippled their agenda to use their "Kings bank" money to infiltrate our government.

So the Zionist Lobby refused to register. In steps Bobby Kennedy (US attorney general) to legally FORCE them to register.

At same time JFK tried to sneak in bill 11110 which was to create an alternative currency to the Fed.

Rothchild Zionist mafia own the Federal reserve not America.

So they killed him and he was the last president to stand up to them.

After that known ZIONIST Lyndon B Johnson swept the whole Zionist registration issue under the carpet.

One day when you assholes wake up. You will know I am telling the truth.

This guy knows too. He's waiting for it.

I'm pretty sure some of the songs about drugs, like the heroin and painkillers. But a lot of it does satanic. #1 The title: Clint Eastwood, referring to cowboy days. When Shit hits the fan that's where we are goin, back to cowboy days. #2 The future is commin on: Being that there's a plan for a new age, they are referring to it comming on. #3 Finally someone let me outta my cage: sounds a lot like he is referring to being released from hell. #4 now time is nothing because I'm counting now age: Hes not worried about time because he'll be fine when everything goes down and he's agless as he's from a deamon. #5 Bet you didn't think so I command you to: Can easily be interpreted as him brain washing people. #6 You think it's fictional? Mystical? Maybe.Spiritual: Definitely sounds like he's referring to there being a God. People think it' s fictional, mystical, and it is obviously spiritual. #7 Gun smokin righteous with one toke ( I will say this does sound like drugs) Psychic among those posses you with one go: Psychic among those and posses you with one go sounds like they're referring to demons. They are psychic because they are watching us. #8 I'm in them every sprouting tree every child of piece every cloud and sea: not too sure on this, but it sounds like it could be referring to fluoride or nuclear chemicals. As we all know the nuclear power plant in japan is leaking into the ocean. #9 I see destruction and demise corruption in desguise from the fuckin enterprise: Way too easy, I don't need to explain as it is self explanatory #10 Through Russel, though not his muscles, but the procussion he provides for me as a guide: idk know who the fuck Russel is but this line sounds like possession of some sort. Maybe the artist's real name is Russel and has verbal skills to guide the daemon on the song to carry out the devils will. #11 y'all can see me now because you don't see with your eye you perceive with your mind that's you inner: not to sure on this either but sounds like he could be referring to us not seeing him for what he really is # 12 So imma stick around with Russ and be a mentor bust a few rhymes so motherfuckers remember where the thought is: again idk who the Fuck Russel is, but the part about being a mentor refers to them brainwashing people. Being their mentor beacause they are listing to them. Bust a few rhymes so we remember where the thought is, (If they indeed are involved in Satanism) they will keep reminding us or other people involved in Satanism what the plan is through subliminal messaging. #13 I brought all this so you can survive when law islawless: like I mentioned before when shit hit the fan and we go back to cowboy days law will be lawless. #14 sensations feelings that you thought were dead no squealing remember that it's all in you head: not to sure on this one, but sensation and feelings that we thought were dead could be referring to the government selling the thought of a better future. So we kill the feelings of being scared and such, but it's really all bad. No squealing remember it's all in you head sounds like they are referring to the next revolution being in you mind. That's what I think the song is about, I could be wrong but. Sure I'm at least partially right.

Man, some of you people are really reaching to find all kinds of deep meaning in this song. Especially the guy with the fruity interpretation of how its such a "spiritual" song ... its about heroine and painkillers (basically all just different members of the same family). this part in particular is pretty easy to read .. "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
    I'm useless,but not for long
    The future is coming on
    I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
    The future is coming on
It's coming..." sunshine in a bag has been a long time euphemism for heroine. im useless but not for long refers to him being sick and feeling down but as soon as he gets high he's up and ready to go. the future is coming on, well, if you have ever been hooked on heroine or other opiates, then this verse is all to familiar to you. the feeling when you wake up or just haven't done anything for awhile of being useless and blah and then when you hit that first high of the day all the sudden your not useless, you ready to get out and do something, and all the sudden the future seems bright and full of great possibility. and no ones happy about being addicted to the shit, but they're glad ( relieved ) when they score so they don't have to be violently sick and go through withdrawals. they can claim all that crap about sunshine in a bag being gold because of the Clint Eastwood movie but its nothing but a convenient coincidence .. just a little clever word play. Anyone who's ever been in that unfortunate position though can tell you exactly what it refers to.

Everyone is hitting in on the spot. The guy is drugged up(and the world is passing him by), although he wishes he wasn't. He feels he has the potential to live a better life(sunshine in a bag), and he's useless but not for long means that he plans to soon act towards a better life. The rap part is mostly giving him motivation that he can do it, and explains how he can go about it, as many of the posts above use correct references. If you have these symptoms mentioned this song can really be a motivation for changing your life. Great song, and yes it is refrencing Clint Eastwood, "sunshine in a bag" (something great consealed(in eastwoods case gold in a bag))
